Release Day Blitz with Review: Under Contract by Jacquelyn Ayres

Book: Under Contract
Author: Jacquelyn Ayres
Genre: Erotic Romance/Erotic Humor

Charlotte McKendrick is your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. She has three beautiful children, a loving family, special friends, and the most wonderful, adoring husband. Her life is a dream. Er . . . let’s try this again. Charlotte McKendrick is not your typical thirty-something stay-at-home mom. Yes, she’s got three beautiful children, a loving family (all of them lingerers—you’ll see), and her friends are special, all right! As far as her wonderful, adoring husband, what a joke! That bastard abandoned her and the kids six months ago. Now, she will do anything she can to survive and provide for her children. Even if it means signing on the dotted line . . . Mitch Colton is the CEO of Colton Technologies. Most of his year is spent traveling around the world, bringing companies the latest innovations in automobile technology. He doesn’t have time for a traditional relationship and the BS that comes with it. He doesn’t do the “marriage” thing, the “kid” thing, and he certainly doesn’t do the “falling in love” thing. All that said, he still wants someone to come home to. Someone who will offer everything he wants, and nothing he doesn’t. He realizes loyalty paired with these kinds of demands won’t come cheap. No problem. What he doesn’t realize is that once Charlotte McKendrick signs that dotted line, he’ll be paying with a lot more than money.

Under Contract by Jacquelyn Ayres is an unconventional love story that will have you laughing at loud through the comical banter between the characters!  It has everything that a reader wants in a good romantic comedy; a little angst, a lot of laughs, amazing characters, a sexy millionaire with a scarred past and of course a female lead that many can relate to.  I give this book 3.5 stars and recommend other read this light, funny and interesting story.

Mitchell is a workaholic to say that least who travels for months at a time and has no desire for the traditional relationship.  At first glance the reader is led to believe that his company is his focus and that he is the reason behind his lack of desire to court a woman and have a relationship with her.  As you make your way through the plot you find out that there is so much more to his past then that!  Charlotte is a now single mother of three, her husband having walked out on her and her children, one of whom has some medical difficulties, after being past up for partner at his law firm; stating that he just couldn't do it anymore.

With the house in foreclosure and the debt collectors calling non-stop Charlotte does the unthinkable.  She pretends that she is a high-end call girl and answers an ad that Mitchell places for a companion.  Upon meeting to discuss the terms of the contract, she is told that she is to be at his beck and call whenever he is in town and she will be paid 25K a month to be exclusive with him.  The answer to Charlotte's prayers!  She can save her house and put food on the table for her children.  But at what price? Would she be able to keep her heart out of the equation?

Mitchell and Charlotte hit it off immediately, almost like they have known each other for years and the level of comfort between them is uncanny.  Mitchell or Mitch as Charlotte calls him much to his dismay, starts to break all of the rules that are listed in his contract; he meets her children, he takes her to meet his grandmother, (who is able to predict the future might I add) and thinks about her non-stop which begins to have an effect on his focus on his business.  When things hit too close to home and the feelings become too much Mitch pushes her away, knowing that he has the contract to keep her with him while he sorts out his head.

It is only when he returns, to decisions that were made without him and is confronted with Charlotte's past that he begins to address the feelings that he has head on.  The way that they interact with each other is absolutely hysterical at times, having me laughing so hard, tears sprang in my eyes.  You have to one-click this hysterical book immediately!  I cannot wait for the next one in the GEG series, to see her sister CiCi have someone who leaves her speechless!

"Her heart-it swallows me. Her voice-it calms me. Her smell-it intoxicates me. I abandoned her. I got scared-am scared. Because I love her. I am a coward.

I am a domestic engineer (born and raised in NJ) whose sole responsibility is to guide three young, impressionable kids into becoming phenomenal adults. This challenging yet rewarding work requires a lot of love (coffee), patience (wine), and determination (periodic exorcisms). I work this magic from the beautiful state of New Hampshire.
Before becoming a domestic goddess (not really), I spent over a decade in the medical field, where I wore more hats than the Queen.
I have loved the written word and the great escape it provides since I was a little girl. When I wasn't reading about people and the places they lived, I was creating my own characters and adventures.
Finding myself again through my writing in The Lost & Found Series, The One, and The GEG Series has been nothing short of a dream come true. Also, it makes people feel better when I laugh randomly or talk to myself, knowing it's my characters and not "the voices" . . . that would be creepy.
