Shana Vanterpool has become one of my must-read authors. Her stories are imaginative and transport you to another world. She is one of my favorite authors and I have been anticipating the release of Hard love for a while. The book lived up to my expectations and surpassed them.
I knew that Cat's story was going to be different...hard, but I didn't realize how the story of Cat and Brando would unfold. Woah! I laughed, cried, and wanted to pull my hair out. It was emotional and I couldn't put it down. Each page pulled me in further and when I was finished reading it, I had a book hangover.
Cat's life hasn't been easy, but the moment she met Brando, there was something about him that called out to her. Brando has been hiding from himself and can no longer do that, but he didn't expect Cat to show up out of nowhere. There is push and pull, nothing is easy. Will they survive for fall apart? This author amazes me every time I read her stories. She just brings out so many emotions with her writing that it always leaves me wanting more, not to say she doesn't give a great ending because she does. This story was a whirlwind. The deep angst and sorrow had me flipping through the pages just to see what happens next. I haven't give a book or should I say a second book in a series more than 4 stars in a long time but this book earned a booming 5 stars!
Brando... the dark, mysterious and sexy detective has come to cross-roads in his life... he finds himself questioning his career and life choices.. but when he comes face to face with Catherine (aka Cat) he finds that maybe he was never where he was meant to be, but can he let go of revenge that has been bleeding through his veins for years?
Cat.. the damaged girl.. the girl who uses men... she doesn't do the whole relationship thing, she lives off the darkness inside her, but when Brando comes back into her life will she be able to resist the darkness the lurks within him? Or will she try to bring out the light finally?

Brando (who we met in Mad Love) is a detective. He is finally wrapping up Madison's case. As it comes to a closure - Mads, Klayton and Cat come back to Denver. Brando and Cat are like the sun and moon that orbit around the earth; they see each other and always from a distance.
Both are broken from the past but their attraction smolders as each day progresses. The flame erupts hotter and hotter until it incinerates the both of them.
I really have no further words on this story. I loved it and you should definitely one click it now.
Cat needed Brando from the moment she saw him. They both have demons to slay...
I absolutely loved the need between these two. The whole time, while rooting for them to work out their issues, the chemistry is there. I loved getting Cat's backstory and more insight in to her character.
This book does not disappoint!
