Something Borrowed
By Lily Morton

Something Borrowed Cover

Stan has never let his blindness hold him back, but he’s beginning to realise his love life is keeping him from moving forward.

He can’t remember a time when he wasn’t in love with his best friend. Rafferty is everything to him—his partner in crime, his confidante, and the person who understands him best. But Rafferty is incapable of reciprocating Stan’s feelings.

As a successful wedding planner, Rafferty is passionately committed to helping newlyweds begin their happily-ever-afters, but after a rootless childhood he’s equally determined not to seek his own. How can he trust in love and marriage when so many of his brides and grooms are repeat customers?

Stan is the glue that keeps the pieces of Rafferty’s life together, and as such Rafferty has always kept Stan safely in the friend box where he can’t lose him. However, lately that conviction has wavered and now Rafferty is bursting with complicated feelings for his best friend. The timing couldn’t be worse because Rafferty has realised he’s in love with Stan just as Stan is moving on.

From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a friends-to-lovers story about realising you have the perfect man when you’re on the brink of losing him.

This is the second book in the bestselling Confetti Hitched series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Witty, charming, at times you want to ring someone's neck...but a great story. I did get the audiobook and will be reviewing that as well.

STORY: 4 Stars

I loved Rafferty and Stan, but seriously, there were several moments when I wanted to knock their heads together. My sister laughed at me when I yelled at my kindle a few times and thought I was talking to a friend. But alas, I was not. I was yelling at these two best friends who are hopelessly in love with each other and won't admit it to each other. LOL. As you can tell, the characters are great and bring out a reaction in you that is over the top. The story was good too, but the characters are what really got to me.

NARRATION: 5 Stars

I absolutely love Joel Leslie. He has a way of given a unique voice to each character, and this story was no different. He takes the story to the next level and brings the characters to life.

OVERALL: 4.5 Stars

The story was good, and I loved turning page after page. When I got the audiobook, it was even better because the characters are over the top and even more loveable. Overall 4.5 stars.

I moan despairingly when I see the time. “It’s ten o’clock. Oh god.”

“Is there a problem?”

Instead of answering, I tap a familiar number on my phone’s screen. “Come on, come on,” I mutter, pacing as I listen to it ring. “Climb off Lachlan’s dick and answer the phone.”

“Who are you talking to, sweetheart?”

The call connects. “What?” Joe says cautiously into my ear. I can’t begrudge him his air of worry.

“I need a favour.”

He groans. “Last time you said that we got fined for causing a public disturbance.”

“No, this time it’s really bad,” I whisper. “I need you, Joe.”

“Joe?” the man asks from behind me. “Who the fuck is Joe?”

“Who’s that?” Joe asks.

“No one,” I say over the insistent voice of the man who is now frowning at me—the man who appears to think we’re married.

“It doesn’t sound like no one,” Joe says, his voice rich with amusement as my bedmate paces the room and shouts about people who cheat.

“Well, it is,” I say in a quelling voice. “Joe, I’ve got the Hollis wedding today.”

“Yeah, I know. You’ll be fine.”

“That might be true if I’d gone to bed at an early hour in my own bed. Sober,” I add with emphasis.

“Oh god,” Joe says.

I walk back into the bedroom. “I know,” I whisper. “I woke up naked, and apparently, I’m now in some sort of a relationship I have no memory of agreeing to. I leave that sort of behaviour to you, mate.” Joe laughs. “This is serious,” I hiss. I look at my watch and groan. “The bride will arrive at the church in an hour.”

I look over at my bedmate, who’s joined me in the bedroom and is still frowning. I ask him, “I don’t suppose you have a spare morning suit hanging around?”

“I don’t know any dead people,” he snaps.

Lachlan has missed Joe from the second his husband walked away. He wants Joe back and is prepared to do anything to get him. Being snowed in together seems to offer the chance Lachlan needs, but does he have what it takes to get Joe to trust in love and their marriage again?

From bestselling author Lily Morton, comes a romantic comedy about love, matrimony, and the best of second chances.

Audiobook Tour and Review: Point Blank by Morgan Brice

AUDIOBOOK TOUR

Book Title: Point Blank: Badlands Book 6—an MM psychic detective romance adventure
Author: Morgan Brice
Publisher: Darkwind Press
Narrator: Kale Williams
Release Date: May 21, 2024
Genre: Paranormal M/M Romance, psychic detective adventure
Tropes: Planning a wedding, meddling family, ghost hunting, malicious magician
Themes: Letting go of the past, the power of love and friendship
Heat Rating: 4 flames
Length: 6 hours and 55 minutes
It can be read as a standalone although it is part of a series
It does not end on a cliffhanger.
Sexy psychic Simon Kincaide and skeptical homicide detective Vic D’Amato are getting married--if the ghost of a murderous magician doesn’t get them first!
Simon and Vic’s wedding is just a few weeks away, and they’re hoping for a little peace and quiet to wrap up work before their honeymoon, but nothing ever goes that smoothly.

Strange circumstances around the death of a retired stage magician suggest supernatural involvement, bringing Simon in on the case. The dark secrets of a long-ago resort hotel lead to a trail of unsolved cold cases that have a chilling similarity. Old scandals, malicious magic, and vengeful spirits expose a web of lies, deceit, and death that is headed for a reckoning.

Can Simon and Vic solve the murders, stop the ghosts, keep Simon’s mother from crashing the party, dodge last-minute wedding disasters, and still make it to the altar on time? Or will the shadows of Myrtle Beach’s haunted past ruin everything?

Point Blank is a fast-paced thrill ride MM paranormal romance packed with supernatural suspense, sinister sleight-of-hand, mysterious monsters, psychic visions, hot men, hurt/comfort, loyal friends, wedding planning, found family, ghosts galore, dark magic, and an evolving, established romantic relationship with all the feels.
Okay, here is the thing. I absolutely love the Badlands series. There is a little bit of everything for everyone. Magic, mayhem, suspense, murder, mystery, action...and of course, romance. So when I saw that a new audiobook had been added, I jumped at the chance. Here are my thoughts.

STORY: 4 Stars
I really liked this story. Vic and Simon can't have an easy time when they are planning their wedding or trying to find a venue. That would be too picturebook perfect, and they are not that couple. LOL. Ghosts are causing mayhem, and together, they have to wrap up their case before they can say I Do and fly off on their honeymoon. But as always, there is danger lurking. The characters are great, the side characters are amazing and memorable, and the story pulls you in. That said, this one seemed a little like something was missing that the other stories possessed. I can't quite put my finger on it. It's still a great story that I loved, and I still recommend listening to or reading it, though.

NARRATION: 4.5 Stars
Kale did an excellent job of bringing these characters to life as always. Each has their own voice, their own mannerisms, and quirks that jump through the speakers and help to distinguish each one.

OVERALL: 4 Stars
I loved the book and have both read and listened to it. But there is something missing. It still comes alive in your head and heart, still has amazing characters, and you still want to cheer for Vic and Simon as they take you on their adventures. I will admit there was a time or two I wanted to yell look behind you. Ghosts can be anywhere. LOL. 4 stars and I suggest you one-click this one today!
Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy MM paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after. Gail writes epic and urban fantasy, with less romance, more explosions.

All of the modern-day Morgan Brice and Gail Z. Martin series crossover, so characters from one series appear in cameos and on page in important secondary roles in books from other series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the more you read the more the expanded universe of friendships and connections becomes clear.

Morgan and Gail believe that paranormal elements make any story even better, and her worlds are full of ghosts, psychics, shifters, creatures, vampires, monster hunters, and magic.

She's also a huge fan of the TV show Supernatural. (Chibi art by Kamidiox)

Audio Blog Tour: Falling For Raine (on Audio) by Lane Hayes

Falling For Raine AT Banner

Audio Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway:
Falling For Raine
By Lane Hayes

Narrated by Joel Leslie

Falling For Raine Audio

The gentleman, the hot mess, and a little British adventure…

Raine

Moving to London is scary and daunting, but I desperately need this job–and a redo. Okay, so I may have oversold my qualifications. That shouldn’t be a big deal, though. I mean, being an assistant’s assistant seems easy enough, and I’m a fast learner.

Hold up!

I’m already in over my head with spreadsheets, new pronunciations, and temperamental appliances. And just as I’m mentally preparing to face going home early, the big boss offers me an opportunity I can’t refuse. And I definitely should because Graham Horsham is an infuriating, complicated grumpy bear with a razor-sharp tongue, a wickedly dry sense of humor, and…I like him far too much.

Graham

I’ve been bamboozled. I’m not quite sure how I ended up with an assistant who spills coffee daily, wears wrinkled shirts, and chatters nonstop. He can’t stay, but I don’t want him to go and that’s madness. The Horsham Group is closing one of our biggest deals ever and I won’t jeopardize it. This one is personal.

Yet so is Raine.

He’s a breath of fresh air—silly, impetuous, lighthearted, good-natured, and…quite lovely. I like him more than I want to admit. For some reason, I can let my guard down with him. It’s unnerving and probably unprofessional.

But not to worry…I will not, under any circumstances, fall for Raine.

Falling for Raine is an MM, age-gap romance featuring a British gentleman, a desperate but adorable American, and a UK adventure!

Wonderful story and narration. A must read or listen to for anyone!

STORY: 5 Stars

I absolutely loved this story. Poor Raine. I just wanted to pull him into a hug. LOL. It is almost a comedy of errors, but it works for this couple. There is an attraction between them, but they fight it every step of the way. The characters are wonderful and the story flows.  It was lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed it. 5 stars.

NARRATION: 5 stars

Joel Leslie has once again brought a story to life. I love the way he was able to make each character an individual that stands out.

OVERALL: 5 stars
This is a wonderful story with amazing characters who are quirky and funny and their story was utterly fascinating. I really think everyone should add this to their list 5 stars.

What in the hell was going on? It was as though I’d entered an alternative universe. Everything looked the same, but it was different.

Of course it was Raine.

I studied him shaking hands with everyone in the shop as I shrugged on my jacket. He was…hypnotic, addicting—a cross between an inappropriate dinner party guest and a fistful of forbidden sweets when you were on a diet. He didn’t fit in this world I’d carefully constructed, yet I kept inviting him in and forgetting whatever reason I’d concocted for this to make sense.

Like now.

“Perhaps you’d like to try something on.” I stuffed my hands into my pockets so I wouldn’t be tempted to touch him.

He widened his eyes and sidled close, whispering under his breath, “Are you nuts? One shirt here costs half my rent. Unless…oh, no. Oh, no, no, no!”

“What?” I demanded, pulling him with me outside.

“Are you going daddy on me?”

“Excuse me?” I furrowed my brow, stopping under the eaves where rain sluiced off the roof and fell like a curtain around us on two sides.

“Slow your roll, G, I’m not looking for a meal ticket, and I’m not taking hand-outs. I can be talked into bedroom daddy kink, but if you want me to call you Daddy—”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake, you daft man. I do not want you to call me Daddy,” I growled just as a well-dressed man stepped onto the mat next to me, pausing for a moment to close his umbrella and dart a quick look between us.

Raine pursed his lips, then burst into laughter when the man entered the shop. “Ha! You should see your face. I was kidding.”

“You’re ridiculous,” I huffed, my lips twitching.

“I’ll be good, Daddy. Don’t spank me.”

“Don’t test me.” I pretended not to notice him fanning himself with a slack-jawed expression as I gestured toward the pub on the next block. “If we stay under the eaves, we’ll stay dry, but we’ll have to hurry.”

“No need. I bet they sell umbrellas in there.”

I squinted at the tourist shop at the corner on the opposite side of the street, its windows papered with Union Jack memorabilia. “That’s crap, Ray-n.”

“So what? It’s fun crap. My treat.”

He sprinted into the deluge, dashing into the tourist shop while I stared after him. What was he doing? Now he’d be wet and stuck with a tatty tourist umbrella that would undoubtedly flip inside out at the first gust of wind.

A crack of thunder spurred me into action. I borrowed a sturdy umbrella from Ives and Harris with the promise to return it as soon as possible, then walked down the street to find Raine.

I shouldn’t have been surprised that he’d managed to make a friend in under five minutes. He stood in front of a wall stuffed with tartan throws, holding two compact umbrellas and chatting up a salesman. It took a bit of persuading to convince him he didn’t need the blanket—however, I couldn’t talk him out of purchasing two Union Jack umbrellas. I warned him that they were poorly made, but he didn’t care.

We squabbled all the way to the pub, argued over what to order, who was paying, and where to sit before finally settling into a table for two at the window. I frowned when he beamed a sunshine smile my way.

“Stop being so happy,” I teased, cradling my glass. “It’s miserable out there.”

“But it’s warm and yummy in here,” he countered, sliding his calf along mine under the table. “And you’re cute when you’re cranky.”

“I am neither cute nor cranky. I’m—okay, never mind, I am cranky. If we’d come straight here, we could have avoided the queue and had that corner booth.” I pointed at the booth currently inhabited by a gaggle of noisy businessmen. “Do you ever listen to reason?”

“Have you met me?”

Cold cases, old enemies, ex-lovers, and vengeful spirits—will Simon and Vic solve the case or become the newest ghosts of the Grand Strand?

Cold cases, old enemies, ex-lovers, and vengeful spirits are making life dangerous for psychic medium Simon Kincaide and his boyfriend, homicide detective Vic D'Amato.

The ghosts of Myrtle Beach are restless, trapped by love, secrets, scandals, and spells, keeping Simon busy protecting the living from the unhappy dead. Someone from Vic's past is out to destroy him and everyone he holds dear, and the high-profile trial of the first case Simon and Vic worked together puts them in the spotlight - and put a target on their backs. As a deadly trap closes around them, can Simon and Vic tie up the loose ends to stop the threat, or will they become the newest ghosts of the Grand Strand?
Wow! This is the best of the series so far, and it kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. I love Simon and Vic!

Story: 4.5 STARS
Blown away! I've always loved this series, and I would even go so far as to say this one is my favorite by Morgan Brice, but there was something about this one that sucked me in and kept me enthralled. It wasn't so much that I was left guessing until the end about the mystery, but the way the story was written, the interactions from the characters, and the plot were great! I loved it. Tension, suspense, emotional...Loose Ends has it all. Much like the other books in this series, there are cameos from some great secondary characters, a fantastic plot that will keep you guessing, and amazing main characters. Well-written, the story moves at a good pace, but be aware, like the other books, there might be a character or two you want to slap and push into the ocean.

Narration: 5 STARS
Kale Williams did a great job bringing Vic and Simon to life once again. His voice is smooth, and the characters each have their own personalities. I loved listening to him.

Overall: 5 STARS
This is one you don't want to miss. It's an amazing story with a fantastic narration. Both the story and the characters are brought to life, and trust me, you want to know the ending. Overall, this audiobook gets 5 stars and I suggest you one-click today!
