Review: Garrett by Sawyer Bennett

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett hits the ice with the story of a playboy athlete whose winning ways lead him to a beautiful woman with a lot to lose.

Carolina Cold Fury star Garrett Samuelson never wants to miss out on a single minute of fun. Whether he’s playing hockey, hanging out with friends, or walking the red carpet with a new date on his arm, he lives every day to the fullest. When he meets Olivia Case, he sees someone who’s exactly his type—confident, sexy, smart . . . his next fling. But the more he pursues her, the more Garrett shares a side of himself that other women don’t normally get to see.

Olivia has been keeping a secret. While Garrett lives for the next thrill, Olivia’s not sure she’ll live to see the next day. She’s undergoing treatment for some serious medical issues, and she doesn’t have time for a relationship with no guarantees—especially one with a hot-as-sin womanizer who won’t take no for an answer. But as she gets to know the real Garrett, Olivia can’t help falling for him . . . hard. To reveal the truth would mean risking everything—but you can’t score without taking the tough shots.

Garrett was another great book in the Cold Fury Hockey Series! I would give this book a 4.5 stars!  I absolutely couldn't wait for this book to be released because I loved Garrett in the first book Alex he was the hilariously hot ladies man who was a friend of Alex and they were teammates on the Cold Fury.   Garrett put a new meaning to a sexy as hell hockey player for me.. he topped Alex which I never thought would be possible because I seriously loved him too!  This series needs to be shared with anyone that will listen because damn it is off the charts smoking hot!  On a more serious note this story will also pull at your heart strings because there is a tragedy, but it was so worth the pulling because this book will sit with me for a long time.

Garrett is your typical one night stand kind of guy.  He has been known to do maybe a second and third date but only so he can get in the girls pants that are shy at first.  When he meets Olivia his best friends Alex's fiance's cousin Olivia his world will get turned upside down.

Yes, that is a major, major event because Mr. One-night stand is going in for the request for a second date.  And I'm nervous as shit, because I don't know if what I've shown here tonight would warrant here wanting to see me again.  I'm used to treating a woman to a nice meal and then finishing off the evening with an orgasm or two.  I might even stay the night for a little cuddling, a bit of pillow talk, and maybe even another orgasm.  But then I'm gone and she's forgotten.  I have no illusions... I'm sure I'm forgotten as well, because woman want more than I can give and when I leave them far behind, I'm sure they are out on the hunt again for the guy who can give them what they truly need.-- Garrett

Olivia is dealing with a tragedy in her life and doesn't have time for any distractions.  When she meets Garrett at a get together she doesn't know what it is about him that she likes, well other than he is gorgeous but there is just something about him.  She refuses to let her self be with him because what she has going on he doesn't need to be apart of it... when she finds out that he is the one night stand kind of guy she will change her mind because maybe they can just have one amazing night and all will be great...yeah that doesn't happen... when they both get so lost in each other and her secret comes out Garrett is willing to try and make it work but Olivia decides its too much and will push him away....

Can these 2 find a way of leaning on each other for support or will Garrett's career the only thing he has ever loved come between them?  Or will it be Olivia's tragedy that will finally seal there fate?

Go get these books now!  You will fall in love with Alex and Garrett....and I can't wait for Zack's story!!!!  Thanks again Sawyer for an amazing journey so far and I look forward to so much more in the future!

You want to know my secrets? What lies beneath the pretty? The scars I can’t let anyone see? The scars tied to my secrets?
On the outside I appear normal. Some might even say perfect.
They say that I’m a pretty girl. They say I should be happy. They say that I have nothing to be angry about. That I’m popular. A cheerleader. That I’m perfect.
Perfect. Perfect. Perfect.
But all they see is what’s on the outside.
On the inside I’m raw, open, bleeding. Scars that can’t seem to heal the wounds.
Carrying dark secrets about who I really am.
How afraid I am to tell the truth.
And it’s slowly killing me.
Ryler
Tattoos. Piercing. Scars. The guy who can’t speak.
Gothic freak. Mute. Punk. I’ve heard it all.
They say that I’m probably dangerous. They say people should stay away from me.
They say. They say. They say.
But who are they anyway?
To decide what I am.
They don’t know what’s hidden beneath the scars. Beneath the piercings and tattoos.
The secrets I keep hidden beneath the silence.
Maybe if they knew, they wouldn’t fear me so much.
Then again, maybe they’d fear me more.

“How long have you lived here?” I recline against the railing of the stairway and wrap my arms around myself as the cool air nips at my skin.
He rubs his jawline with one hand while the other spells away, “A couple of months. It’s been an interesting change to go from Sin City to here.”
“Sin City?” Strands of my hair fall into my face as I angle my head to the side in confusion. “What’s that?”
“It’s a nickname for Vegas.”
“Why is it called that?”
A pucker forms at his brows as he brings his finger to his mouth and traces it back and forth across his bottom lip and over his lip ring. I’m absolutely mesmerized by the movement, drawn in by it to the point where I actually contemplate kissing him. I’ve never just planted one on a guy before; Evan was in total control of the relationship.
Ryler moves his hand away from his lip and bites on his lip ring. “Because it’s a city with sins tempting people at every corner—gambling, booze, sex.”
About a year ago, I lost my virginity to Evan, but standing here, watching Ryler sign sex while sucking on his lip ring, makes me feel like a virgin again.
“Oh,” is all I manage to get out of my mouth.
I only breathe normally again when he releases the metal from his teeth and drops his cigarette to the ground.
“So, about the party.” He gestures at the door. “Do you want to come in for a while? They’re playing cards and there are drinks and snacks and stuff. Plus, your papers are in there.” His lips quirk to a half grin and my stomach somersaults.
Do I want to come in?
Boy, do I want.
A lot.
Even through the fear, I want to go through that door.
More than I’ve ever wanted to do anything in my entire life.
In the back of my mind, I hear the voices of my mother, father, and Evan whispering that what I’m about to do is wrong. I’m not being who I’m supposed to be. I’m being all wrong, imperfect. I’m surrounding myself with unbeautiful people, according to their standards.
I smile the biggest smile that’s ever graced my lips, even though I’m terrified out of my mind. “A party sounds fun. I’ve never actually been to one.”
“You seriously are sheltered, Emery.” He reaches for the doorknob but pauses. “I can help you change that.” He winks at me.
The disapproving voices in my head continue to chant as I follow him inside and into the unknown. But the music swallows them up as soon as I step over the threshold. Everything in my mind quiets the moment I step into the room. Everything is still for the first time in my life without taking the medication.

“Damn my father and damn this trip. He died and left his affairs in a mess for me to settle. If I return to my hometown, I know the inevitable will happen. I’ll run into Lauren Mitchell! When someone blasts a hole on your heart, like Lauren did to me, it tends to stay open and seeing her again will not ease the pain.”

Aedyn Dell Cumberland left his small hometown after watching his mother pass away in the hospital the night of his high school graduation. In the years to follow he distanced himself completely from the small town and was transformed from a member of the geek squad to a handsome and successful businessman. When he finally returns to attend his father’s funeral, he runs into his high school crush, Lauren Mitchel. Old feelings he’d wanted to be left buried are stirred up until he learns about Lauren’s short-tempered boyfriend. Can a couple miss their destiny the first time, and then get another chance at it? Or will Aedyn’s heart remain a puppet for which Lauren holds the strings?

Don’t miss the latest erotic romance, Flirting with Destiny: Aedyn Book 1, by New York Times Bestselling author, Eve Carter.

FlirtingWithDestinyTease

Flirting With Destiny by Eve Carter was a book about lost loves, rediscovering who you really are & who you want to be, and of facing the demons that haunted you from your teenage years.  Eve Carter writes the story of Aedyn and Lauren in a way that has the reader remembering what it was like to prove the world that the ideas they had of who you are or would be are completely wrong.  This book was a 3 star read for me and I would recommend it to others.

Aedyn was the geek in high-school, pining after one of the most popular girls, Lauren but never having the courage to tell her how he felt.  Finally putting himself out there he asks her to prom, but she rejects him, causing his heart to break.  Aedyn graduates from high-school with memories that are bitter sweet as he is thankful to get out of the place that caused him so much pain, but he also holds much sadness as it was the last days of his mothers struggle with cancer.  Leaving for the big city of Chicago, he is determined to make something of himself.  His outward appearance is completely transformed into a sexy, handsome guy, that has no issues finding a woman or women to occupy his bed.  He is also completely successful in his business, but it appears that something is missing.  When he has to return home when his father dies to make final arrangements for he estate, he realizes the horrible memories his hometown holds for him, almost turning him back into the less than confident geeky teenager that he let behind so many years ago.

Lauren had big dreams for herself that have all seemed to fade away and remain out of reach.  She has spent her life trying to portray the perfect image, and she starts to realize that the persona that others see isn't really who she wants to be.  She has been with her boyfriend Chip for four years, and at the beginning of their relationship she wanted to marry him and have the perfect suburban life with him.  Lately though her thoughts are sliding to all of the reasons why she shouldn't be with Chip anymore.  He is completely controlling of her, demeaning to her thoughts and ideas as well as becoming increasingly bad tempered that has led him to display minor acts of violence toward her that she fears will only escalate with time.  Lauren does not know a way out of the hole she has dug for herself with Chip, and she worries daily about their relationship, until he crosses paths with Aedyn one day by sheer coincidence.  It is in talking to Aedyn, who really listens to her and takes her thoughts into consideration that she begins to seriously question her entire relationship with Chip.

Aedyn invites Lauren to visit him in Chicago for the weekend, so that she can get away and gather her thoughts.  The invitation comes under the guise that they are old friends catching up but Aedyn finds himself wanting so much more from her.  Lauren agrees to the visit and everything that transpires in that trip's aftermath leads both Aedyn and Lauren to make some decisions that they previously hadn't considered.

To Elizabeth Ayers, New York City had always been a dream. She’s worked her entire young life to make it here.

Groomed to one day take over his father’s law firm, attending Columbia University was Christian Davison’s only option.

Christian wants her, but Elizabeth knows better than to give into their intense attraction. Yet there is little she can do to stay away.

Lost to You, the prequel to the bestselling romance, Take This Regret. A New Adult novella, recommended for readers 17+. It’s unnecessary to have read Take This Regret to enjoy Lost to You.

There are some mistakes we make that we will regret for the rest of our lives.  For Christian, it was the day he betrayed Elizabeth.

Christian Davison has a plan for his life.  He is determined to become an attorney and to one day take his place as partner in his father’s law firm.  Nothing will stand in his way, not even Elizabeth Ayers and their unborn child.

After Christian cuts her from his life, Elizabeth spends the next five years struggling to provide for her daughter and willing to sacrifice anything to give her child a safe, comfortable life.

For five years, Christian has regretted the day he walked away from his family and will do anything to win them back just as Elizabeth will do anything to protect her daughter from the certain heartache she believes Christian will bring upon them.

When Christian wrestles his way into their lives, Elizabeth is faced with asking herself if it is possible to forgive someone when they’ve committed the unforgiveable and if it is possible to find a love after it has been buried in years of hate.  Or are there some wounds that go so deep they can never heal?

They say everyone deserves a second chance.
