Throwback Thursday: Gabriel's Inferno Trilogy

Since it's Thursday, I decided to do a little throwback and visit one of my all time favorite book series EVER!!  I am talking ever... ever... ever!! They may be a little pricer than normal ebooks but they are so worth every penny!  If you have not read this series, check them out!  I've read the first two books three times each!  They are just that good! <3 Jenn

Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well-respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope of redemption.

When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide.

An intriguing and sinful exploration of seduction, forbidden love, and redemption, Gabriel’s Inferno is a captivating and wildly passionate tale of one man’s escape from his own personal hell as he tries to earn the impossible—forgiveness and love.

Professor Gabriel Emerson has embarked on a passionate, yet clandestine affair with his former student Julia Mitchell. Sequestered on a romantic holiday in Italy, he tutors her in the sensual delights of the body and the raptures of sex.

But when they return, their happiness is threatened by conspiring students, academic politics, and a jealous ex-lover. When Gabriel is confronted by the university administration, will he succumb to Dante’s fate? Or will he fight to keep Julia, his Beatrice, forever?

In Gabriel’s Rapture, the brilliant sequel to the wildly successful debut novel, Gabriel’s Inferno, Sylvain Reynard weaves an exquisite love story that will touch the reader’s mind, body, and soul, forever.

Professor Gabriel Emerson has left his position at the University of Toronto to embark on a new life with his beloved Julianne. Together, he's confident that they can face any challenge.

But Julianne's graduate program threatens Gabriel's plans for their life together, as the pressures of being a student become all consuming. When she is given the honour of presenting an academic lecture at Oxford, several individuals from their past appear, including an old nemesis intent on humiliating Julia and exposing one of Gabriel's darkest secrets.

In an effort to confront his remaining demons, Gabriel begins a quest to discover more about his biological parents - a search that has startling repercussions for himself and for Julianne.

Words cannot express just how much I adore this series.  Tears... every time I read this series, it breaks me down to tears!  I feel like I cannot breathe... I know what's coming next... I know who it ends... but every single time it just breaks me down!!  You can find me in a corner with my kindle and a blanket swearing to Sylvain Reynard for making me feel like this every time!  But gawh... I eat it up and I devour every little morsel of each book!  I do love the first two books more than the last book.  The series was orginally a two book series but the author wrote the last book for the fans.  And I truely feel its a book for the fans.  It doesn't have the same feel as the other books but still, I enjoyed it.

Professor Gabriel Emerson.... sigh...  What is not to love about the damaged Professor that is all alpha male but still cultured and sexy as hell!  He has always been at the top of my book boyfriend lists and every tall dark and handsome male model can easily be my Professor. Life wasn't always easy for Gabriel.  He is adopted by a loving family but fights the demons.  While going through college, he relied heavily drugs to get him through the rough times.  But now being a top scholar and a Dante expert.

The lovely Julia... her best friend growing up was Gabriel's younger sister and Julia has always had a crush on him.  He was the whole reason she wanted to study Dante and followed him to Toronto to go to school.  One night in the apple orchard with Gabriel years ago had left a lastly impression on Julia and she has never been the same since.  She knows they shared something special but little does she know Gabriel was high and does not remember her.

The road for Gabriel and Julia is not an easy one.  He is her Professor and she is his student.  The rules strictly forbid this relationship.   Are they willing to risk to all to to feed the passion and love the feel for each other?? Can Gabriel be Julia's Dante and Julia be Gabriel's Beatrice???  Do you believe in true love and fate? It's a gripping and epic love story that I can never get enough of!!

5 huge stars for this amazing series!!

I'm interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition - particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

I'm also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.
I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex's Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.

Throwback Thursday! Reason to Breath by Rebecca Donovan is one of Kiki's favorite books!

A book that held me complete prisoner is......

Reason to Breath
by
Rebecca Donovan

If you have not experienced this book yet you MUST! And yes it is an experience. It's enlightening, beautiful and chilling!

Emma Thomas is hiding a terrible secret. Despite her academic prowess and athletic accomplishments, she focuses on surviving high school by fading into the shadows. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth- at the risk of revealing a truth that could destroy everything.

Emma
Evan

Reason to Breath is an intense, woeful and deep story. This book sucked me in quickly. I was completely captivated the entire time. It took me on an emotional journey that was filled with secrecy, friendship and love.
Emma is a high school student that is trying to fade into the background.  She is a bright and independent girl. She is sent to live with her Aunt and Uncle.. While there she endures a lot of emotional and physical suffering. I was intrigued by her endurance and strength but at times wanted to shake her. I almost couldn't bare what awaited her at her new home.

Thankfully she has close friendship with Sarah.  There is also that boy named Evan that broke through her defenses and showed her the beauty in life. He gave her some normalcy in her fucked up life.

I recommend you try this unbelievably painful and somewhat poetic book by Rebecca Donovan. She is a brilliant storyteller. you will surely enjoy learning about Emma's secrets, how she copes and who she trusts.

What to Possibly expect while Reading:

Finger Nail Nibbling

Shortness of Breath

Inability to Sleep

Gasping

Swooning

May shit Yourself

Was it Worth it?

 ABSOLUTELY

I read the entire series and I would recommend these books to anyone. Rebecca Donovan is a gifted writer. Maybe even a one of a kind type of writer in my opinion....

Throwback Thursday: Disastrous and Cautious by E.L. Montes

Its Throwback Thursday!  These two books are still one of my favorite series!  If you haven't met Marcus DeLuca yet... you are missing out!  Go pick them up!

Disastrous

As the top of her class at Harvard Law, she’s nervous and excited, when given the opportunity of a summer extern position at one of the top firms in Boston. Her new boss is young, extraordinarily handsome, and the successful, Marcus DeLuca. Slowly she begins to fall for him, but as she caves in to his charms, she begins to discover he is keeping something from her.

Marcus DeLuca is living two lives: one that involves his successful career and the other that could potentially ruin his entire reputation. Every day is a stressful and hectic environment with his busy schedule. His secret could jeopardize not only his life but everyone he loves. That’s why he has no extra room for a serious, romantic relationship, but after meeting Mia he cannot resist her. She is innocent, humble, and pure, the total opposite of him. She distracts him from all of his deep, dark secrets. He knows once Mia finds out the things he has done and who he truly is, she will never want to look at him again. Deep down he knows he must stay away but he can’t.

Cautious

Marcus and Mia share a LOVE stronger than others, but their relationship was built on LIES and deceit.

Cautiously, they continue to struggle for what they desire more than anything, each other.

Though, that comes with a price … one that involves more HEARTBREAK and deception.
Can they survive another disastrous path?

Is their love strong enough to defeat all the obstacles, all of the BETRAYAL?

Not all broken relationships are repairable, but Marcus and Mia try their hardest to fight for themselves and for each other.

I am so sad that this is the end of Marcus and Mia’s story! I fe1l in love with them in Disastrous and my heart continued to break for them throughout Cautious! First of all, E.L. Montes knows how to do a prologue! Oh man!! From the get you know that something is going to happen… something big! Something life changing! Something really bad!!! But when does it happen… who does it happen to… how does it happen!!! These are all things that are in your head to start! That’s just the beginning! This story is different than Disastrous as this flips back and forth between Marcus and Mia’s POV where Disastrous was strictly Mia’s POV. I love reading the male POV and getting in their heads!

The story starts right where Disastrous left of with Marcus and Mia reconciling after the great scene in the rain. Mia recognizes that their relationship, up to that point, has been more physical and they knew very little about each other. If their relationship was to work, they had to almost start over and get to know each other a person and not just lovers. We are taken on their journey of getting to know each other and building their relationship.

Just when things look like they will work for Marcus and Mia, the lies and secrets catch up to them. It’s heart breaking as I just want them to work things out. They belong together! They are soul mates. With the book being from both POV you truly grasp the amount of love they have for each other. But with Marcus working to protect Mia from his lifestyle he may do more harm than good. Also this time, Mia is holding her own secrets that she has learned about Marcus’s family that he is unaware of. She also believes she is protecting him but when Marcus finds out, can he look past her keeping this huge secret?

Then… literally all hell breaks loose! My heart felt like it was ripped my chest as I was reading and I was just thinking… no… no… no… This cannot be happening! This cannot end this way! What the hell! Why is E.L. doing this to me!!

You will have to read the book to figure out if Marcus and Mia get the happily ever after or will the lies and deceit be the death of their relationship???

Here are some of my favorite quotes from the book.

“I had this feeling deep down that I couldn’t live without her. When you finally find a person who makes you feel alive, how you could possibly breathe if she were gone” (omg… so swooning… sigh….)

“You can’t help who you fall in love with. Yet I had fallen in love with a man that most women would run away from”
“Every single aspect of her drove me insane with want, desire, love, and so much more”

“He was a man with two lives: one that he wanted no part of and another he desperately tried to keep successful. Any man that had to survive the turmoil and struggles that Marcus had in life was usually twice his age. He was a man with many flaws, which haunted his very existence- a man who had held so much hatred in life. Yet when he loved, it was strong. It was hard. It was passionate. It was without control”

I so loved this last one! It is Marcus… it totally sums him up! I was in tears at the end of this book. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!  5 huge stars from me!
