CLICHES
She can't stand them.
Hates them.
Refuses to be one.
But...
Tessa Brooks is strong-willed, sassy, and determined, on the brink of dominating in the testosterone-fueled sport of horse racing. She’s spent her life avoiding the norm, staying true to herself to achieve her ultimate goals.
Her relationship with Jace Hitchen, her brother's best friend, just might be the biggest cliche of all. Over the years, he’s been her protector, her annoyance, her confidante, her crush. But giving in to what she's really wanted for the last ten years could be the very thing that destroys everything she's worked for and wanted. Can Tessa achieve her dreams for the future, but still hold on to the past?

Jock by C.M. Foss is a book about a girl struggling to make a name for herself in a world that is dominated by men, being a horse jockey. The youngest of a large close knit family, Tessa struggles to make a name for herself, despite the lack of support she feels that she receives. Being the youngest means that everyone tries to look out for her and protect her, but Tessa doesn't need their protection, she is feisty and can hold her own in almost any given situation with her quick wit and determination. This book is a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend it to others.
Tessa or Midge as she is referred to by the members of her family due to her pint size, is determined to make a name for herself in the jockey world. Growing up around horses, being a girl jockey has been a dream, a dream that her brother Shane supported whole heartedly and she throws herself into training and racing with a determination that most people only wish they have. Putting in long hours at the track, training the horses, racing and watching her weight are all things Tessa must to do be successful, and it often comes at the expense of her relationships with her family and friends.
Jace has been in Tessa's life since the day she was born, being the best friend to her brother Lawrence. When her mother asks him to protect her, since she is the youngest, Jace accepts this challenge like he has accepted everything else in his life, with a dedication that most don't have. As Tessa begins to grow up, the feelings that Jace has for her change, from a brotherly love to a romantic one. But with the way that Tessa spreads herself thin, to try and make everyone happy while trying to achieve her dreams, there isn't much room in her life for him.
Once Tessa and Jace cross the line from friends to lovers all bets are off, and the dreams that Tessa has seem to be slipping through her fingers as her thoughts become consumed with the man that she has crushed on her entire life. She doesn't have time to date, and she needs someone who will support her dreams not try to protect her from them. Walking away from Jace may be the only way for her dreams to come true...or is it? You will have to read to find out.
3.5 stars!!
This isn't your typical brother's best friend falls for little sister love story. While, yes that does indeed happen, there's so much interesting story.
Jace has known Tessa since she was a baby, literally. He got to hold her. He essentially was like an older brother/protector to her along with her two other brothers. But there was nothing he wouldn't do for her, he never could say no to his Midge(his cute nickname for her).
Tessa is strong and willful and independent. Her family grew up in a thoroughbred farm and she always wanted to be a jockey. And Tessa becomes singularly focused on achieving this dream no matter the consequences. But that all changes once Jace and Tessa's relationship turns into more.
Can Tessa let Jace in and balance her busy life at the same time?

Jock isn't your typical sports romance story. In this story the heroine is the Jock and not just any Jock but a horse jockey. This story is also a brother's best friends romance. I would give this story a 3.5 stars and would recommend to others. This story wasn't a wow knock my socks of kind of book but it was enjoyable and touched some very sensitive subjects.
Jace has been there for Tessa since literally the moment she was born so there is a bit of an age gap. What starts out as a brotherly protector role will heat up and turn into a twisted complicated romance.
Can Jace let go of the brotherly protector role and treat Tessa like a lover? Will Tessa's family accept there relationship? And finally can Tessa make time for a serious relationship with all of the responsibilities that come with her job? Get to one clickin to find out!
CM Foss is a hopeless romantic with a love for the written word. When she was little, her mom would ration her books so she wouldn’t go through them too quickly. It didn’t matter, she would just re-read. She’s always been an avid equestrian, competing in the top levels of Three Day Eventing by age seventeen. CM now resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and kids where they own and operate their own equestrian business, as well as raising grass-fed, sustainable meats. She doesn’t have this thing people call “free time”, but she does spend a weird amount of time writing, reading, playing with her kids, milking goats, and drinking wine, while avoiding bananas at all costs. Other books by CM Foss include Shiver, Swoon, and City Beautiful.
