Years of dreaming. Nine months of preparing. Fatherhood has finally arrived for Royce and Sawyer Locke.

Darla Grace is everything her fathers dreamed she’d be and more. Their precious daughter stole their hearts long before she was born and had them wrapped around her tiny fist with her first breath. But just when their lives start to feel perfect, a diabolical act triggers a chain of events they never could have seen coming. Royce and Sawyer will have to combine their fearless and relentless superpowers to take on this monumental challenge, albeit with a lot less sleep and formula stains on their shirts.

Brokered Betrayals is book three in the Felonies and Fatherhood trilogy, the third installment in the Royce Locke and Sawyer Key story arc. ** New readers should start with the Zero Hour and Matrimony and Mayhem trilogies before reading Felonies and Fatherhood. ** Brokered Betrayals continues Royce and Sawyer’s happily ever after as they move into the most anticipated phase of their lives. Heat, humor, heart, and homicide abound. You have been warned.

A surge of panic flooded through Royce. He casually leaned closer to the bed. “Are we talking minutes or hours?”

Kelsey giggled and patted his head. “She’ll get here when she gets here.” She opened one eye to look at him. “But I’d say two hours tops.”

Royce glanced at the clock and noted that it was seven thirty. He kissed the back of Kelsey’s hand and went back to studying the monitor for the next spike. Holy shit. Was he really just two hours away from meeting their daughter? Royce glanced over at his husband and found him looking just as shell-shocked.

“Two hours?” Sawyer mouthed.

Royce’s head suddenly felt funny, and someone turned down the volume in the room. The edges of his vision grew fuzzy, and black dots danced in front of his eyes. Sawyer’s mouth moved, but Royce couldn’t hear the words for the weird buzzing noise. Was that a monitor? Was something wrong with Darla? He tried to claw his way through the fog, but he felt trapped. The harder he fought, the smaller his world became until his vision narrowed down to two tiny pinpricks. What the hell was happening to him? A hand landed on his shoulder, the touch warm and comforting. Sawyer’s lips pressed to his ears, and a whisper of sound traveled through the canal to penetrate his brain.

“Breathe, baby.” Sawyer’s voice was a little louder this time, and it had the same magic effect as always.

As Royce’s vision expanded, the room became brighter, and he noticed his pounding heart and restricted breathing. He sucked in a lungful of air and coughed.

“Easy,” Sawyer cautioned, turning Royce’s stool until they were eye to eye. He took Royce’s hand and placed it over his heart. “Breathe with me. Nice and slow.”

Royce closed his eyes and concentrated on the rise and fall of Sawyer’s chest as he matched his breaths. Each inhale and exhale brought him back to his body until his awareness fully returned with embarrassment hot on its heels. He scanned the faces he loved and was relieved that he saw only concern or sympathy. “I don’t know what just happened to me, but I didn’t like it.”

Kelsey reached over and patted his hand. “Sweetheart, you’ve realized your entire life is going to change in a few hours, and you had a minor panic attack.”

“Are you sure?” Royce asked. “I’ve never experienced anything like that before.”

“We’re sure,” Sawyer, Kelsey, and Andrew said.

But Royce wasn’t convinced. “I think it was an alien abduction.”

Kelsey snorted. “Drama queen.”

“I recognize a panic attack when I see one,” Sawyer said, using his strong fingers to massage the tension from Royce’s neck.

“The same thing happened to Andrew,” Kelsey said. “You’re never as ready as you think you are.”

“Her nursery is ready,” Royce said. “We bought the best infant car seat on the market. Her clothes are clean and ready to go. We have diapers, butt cream, formula, and all the bottle stuff on hand. We’re ready.”

Andrew chuckled. “There’s physically ready, and then there’s emotionally ready. Buying all the stuff is the easy part.” He tapped his temple. “Preparing this is an entirely different beast. About this time, panic sets in because you realize this tiny human will depend on you for their very existence and well-being. And just when you think you know what you’re doing, life will throw you a curveball. Sleep schedules change, skin develops sensitivity to laundry detergents, and suddenly, they don’t like the baby food they loved just the day before. You just roll with it, man. I won’t tell you there’s nothing to worry about. You’re cops. You know there’s everything to fear in this insane world, but you’ll never be alone.”

Royce turned to Sawyer and smiled. “We’re ready. Not just the clothes and food. We can do this.”

“It’s a damn good thing because she’s coming, ready or not,” Kelsey said.

The past is never buried. Confronting it, though, that’s the biggest risk.

Jude Ellison thought he’d escaped him. A new town, a quiet job, two years of hard-earned peace. But when his abusive ex walks free on early release, Jude finds himself trapped all over again. Only this time, the bruises are invisible. Callum Reid never needed fists to destroy him. He only needed time.

Warren Bailey is the new PE teacher at Worthbridge Secondary. Or so everyone thinks. In truth, he’s an undercover officer sent to dismantle a trafficking network tied to Jude’s ex. Warren’s job is to stay detached. To watch, listen, and wait.

But the moment he meets Jude, detachment stops being an option.

What starts as surveillance quickly spirals into something far more dangerous: a bond Warren never expected, and a desire he can’t ignore. As Callum tightens his hold, Warren must decide between the mission he’s sworn to uphold and the man he can’t let go.

Because Jude isn’t the target. He’s the reason Warren is willing to risk everything.

In Worthbridge, tensions are reaching breaking point.

And some loves are worth breaking every rule for.

Worth the Risk is the third book in the Worth It series—a gritty MM romantic suspense series set in a storm-battered coastal town. Featuring an undercover detective sergeant haunted by past mistakes and a teacher ensnared by his own history, their love story collides with a criminal case that threatens not just the community they serve, but the people they love.

https://getbook.at/WorthIt3

Worthbridge. A faded seaside place already softening into autumn: bunting swapped for plastic leaves in shop windows, cold brew replaced by spiced lattes, and school gates yawning open for the new term. Tourists thinning. Locals returning to routine. Streets quieter. Safer. Supposedly.

But Reid was here.

And Warren bet he hadn’t come for the sticks of rock or rejuvenating sea air.

“We believe he contacted someone when inside,” Patel said. “Possibly linked to the Radley network’s southern arm. He’s been keeping a low profile, but his pattern’s clear.” She stepped forward, casting a partial silhouette across the projected image. “We had him covered after release but he slipped the net when he went off-grid. Changed phones, no fixed address. Then he popped up near Worthbridge right where our Radley threads converge.”

“You want me to track him? Make friends?” Warren rubbed his palms together, hungry for it. “Haven’t had a good fake-out in a while. Love bringing down an arsehole with false loyalty.”

“You’re not tracking him, you’re watching the fallout. Who he goes to. Who protects him. That’s where the network lives.”

Warren frowned, folding his arms and chewing on the inside of his cheek.

“And we think it might be here.” Patel clicked the next slide. This time it wasn’t CCTV. It was a staff photo. School setting. A man sat at a desk, books stacked neatly to one side. White. Slim. Curly brown hair dishevelled. Black-rimmed glasses perched on a weary face. Eyes both tired and defiant. And soft. Sweet

Warren narrowed his eyes. “Subject?”

“This is where it gets… delicate.” Patel stepped closer to the projector, folding her arms as the next image slid into focus. “Jude Ellison, thirty. History teacher at Worthbridge Academy. Moved to the town over two years ago. Originally from Leeds. No criminal record. No registered partner. Keeps to himself. Low profile. But we’ve flagged several anomalies.”

Warren studied the face on screen. Clean-cut. Soft eyes. Too unassuming for a room like this. “Anomalies like what?”

“We believe Ellison and Callum Reid were involved in London.” Patel’s voice cooled. “Intimately.”

She didn’t need to spell it out.

“If Reid’s shown his face in Worthbridge now, it isn’t a coincidence. We think Ellison could be the reason. And if that link between them still exists, then it’s possible he’s been biding his time, building a life in the school, embedding himself in the community, waiting for Callum to come back.”

Warren scrutinised Jude’s photo.

None of this was what he’d expected.

Jude didn’t look like someone playing a long game. He didn’t have the guarded eyes of a groomer or the sheen of a manipulator. He looked… ordinary. Messy hair. Soft focus. That weary smile teachers wore at the end of a long day. One that said he’d explain a battle strategy or a political scandal with the same patience he used to hand out detentions. Someone you’d nod to in the corridor and feel lighter for it. Kind

And handsome enough to make you forget why you were there.

Warren blinked, dragging himself back into the room.

He’d learned a lot working undercover. Chief among them was that sentiment was a security breach. He’d stripped his personal life for parts years ago, rebuilt himself out of discipline and distance. Every feeling filed away, every impulse locked down. Showing interest in a local wasn’t just reckless, it was an open wound. A weakness waiting to be weaponised. One misstep and someone would trace that thread straight back to the Met, or worse, to SEROCU. And he’d seen the type before. The ones who hid their guilt behind charm, wearing sincerity as if it were a mask.

Yet something in him shifted.

Quiet. Inconvenient.

A pull from somewhere he thought he’d buried for good.

Naomi leaned forward. “You think Ellison’s a thread in the Radley enquiry?”

“We don’t know,” Patel said evenly. “That’s where Warren comes in.” Her gaze locked on him. “I’m giving you a second chance, DS Beckford. Your remit may be secondary to Naomi’s, but it’s still critical. You’re not there to monitor the students. You’re there to get close to Jude Ellison. Gain his trust, read him, and work out whether he’s an unwitting bystander… or part of the problem. We know he was in the building with Alfie Carter during the fire.”

Warren turned his gaze back to the image glowing on the screen. That face again. Open. Tired. A little out of place in a room full of teenagers but not threatening. Not calculated.

Not what he’d been trained to look for.

“You said… intimate?” He kept his tone level, though something worked sharp at his chest. “Are we talking lovers?”

Patel nodded. “That’s right.”

“So he’s gay?”

“Reid or Ellison?”

“Either.”

Patel shrugged. “Reid, we believe, is opportunistic. He’ll take what he can use. Ellison? Yes. Gay. Is that a problem?”

Warren sat back, letting the question settle. “No. Not a problem.” He couldn’t help glancing over at Naomi.

She looked away almost immediately.

Patel moved on. “This isn’t a sting. Not yet. This is intelligence-gathering. We do this right, we dismantle Radley’s network from the inside. We get Vivienne to crack. We track the grooming chain. We expose the funding route. And we find out exactly where Jude Ellison fits into all of it.”

Warren gave a nod. Slow. Intentional. Controlled.

But his gut twisted.

He’d gone undercover before. Deep cover. Messy work. Moral lines blurred to shit. He’d played addict, enforcer, lover, brother. All of it for the greater good. For something that made sense when the case file closed.

But this time?

This time the job came with a face he couldn’t stop looking at.

A name that felt heavier than the rest.

And a growing certainty in his gut that the hardest part of this assignment wouldn’t be lying to everyone else.

It would be lying to himself.

Milo looks like every twink you’ve ever met, but behind the cheeky smile is a man who craves control. Older men are his weakness, but none ever take him seriously. Until Edward.

Edward Chivington is forty, polished, and powerful. The deputy prime minister of the UK. A man forced into the closet by his father, who doesn’t know how to break the door down after so long. Milo is everything he wants, everything he never thought he could have.

Their first encounter is in The Back Room, a notorious labyrinth where anything goes in the dark. One night becomes many, and Edward starts to reveal pieces of himself, as he falls deeper for the young man. Then Milo realises the truth. The man he’s also falling for is on the brink of becoming prime minister.

But Edward isn’t the only one with ambition. His rival will stop at nothing to expose him. Milo’s flat mates will disown him for sleeping with the enemy, and the press is circling, hungry for scandal. A romantic trip to Norway over the holidays, proves this could be their moment for happily ever after, but when their story breaks, Edward must make the ultimate choice.

His dream job, or his dream man? Because the world isn’t ready for him to have both, or is it?

“Milo!” shouted Liam from behind the counter.

“Sit down. I’ll be over in a minute.”

Liam was smiling, and it was the first time Milo had seen him do that since before Christmas. The place wasn’t busy, but it was the lull between breakfast and lunch, so that would change soon. It had a cosy yet modern feel, which had all been Sylvie’s doing. The whole place was a reminder of the wonderful woman she’d been. Whenever Milo had visited, she’d always treated him as if he were one of her own.

“Here you go,” said Liam, putting coffee and a breakfast roll in front of him. “I assume you didn’t have breakfast?”

“That’s very presumptuous of you.”

“When Milo is stressed, he doesn’t eat. Probably why you’re a skinny bitch. You’re always stressed.”

“Piss off. I’m not skinny.”

“Compared to me, you are,” said Liam, flexing his biceps and squeezing his muscular chest.

“Good morning, Liam,” said a very country-looking guy, with a beard and plaid shirt. “Oh . . . hello . . . good morning . . . hello . . . um . . . hi, Austin.” Milo was struggling to keep a straight face. He could see why Liam was all flustered. Austin was hot. He had to be in his forties, although the beard might be making him look older. He had warm brown eyes, and he clearly had a soft spot for Liam with how he was smiling at him.

“Do you have Maisie’s cupcakes?”

“Of course. Let me get them for you. I’ll just be a minute. Will you be okay, Milo?”

“I’ll be fine. I’ll keep Austin company for you.” Liam glared at Milo, which made Austin chuckle. He scooted off quickly, probably worried Milo was going to swoop in and steal his man.

“How do you know Liam?” asked Austin.

“We’ve lived together for ten years.” Austin frowned at that comment, as if he were trying to work something out. “We met at uni. Shared student digs there, and then flat-shared in London.”

“Ah.” The relaxing of Austin’s shoulders was obvious. He clearly saw Milo as a threat, which was hilarious. Liam was like a brother to him, but Milo didn’t need to say that. Before he could say anything else, though, Liam appeared holding a box, which no doubt contained the cupcakes.

“Here you go. I hope she likes them.”

“Did you make them?” Liam nodded.

“Then they’ll be perfect,” Austin beamed. Liam visibly blushed; Milo was loving this interaction. “I’ll see you soon, Liam. Nice to meet you, Milo.” Milo couldn’t help but snort. It was clear Austin would like to mark his territory around Liam and growl at Milo if he could. Austin smiled again, just for Liam, before he left.

Release Tour: A Cowboy Holiday by Lane Hayes

Release Tour
A Cowboy Holiday by Lane Hayes
Length: 40,000
Series: standalone
Prior Reading: n/a
Genre: Holiday, Contemporary, Cowboy
Tropes: Single dad, grumpy-sunshine, small-town, holiday, cowboy
Trigger/Content Warnings: n/a
Designer: Reese Dante
The cowboy, the rancher, and a little holiday magic...

TANNER

I met the grumpiest man on the planet and I’m head over heels in lust. No joke. Oak Ridge Ranch’s new part-time vet slash ranch hand is a bear and he’s built like one too. If I were smart, I’d keep my distance.

In a twist, I’m not so smart.

But I can tell that under his hard as nails exterior, the cowboy is a gentle giant. Axel is a devoted single dad, a dedicated vet, and…I think he likes me. Or he wants me.

I can work with that.

There’s nothing wrong with a little holiday fun, is there?

AXEL

I need the job at the ranch through December, then I’m out of here. I have a kid to think of and it’s time to settle old scores and build a new life.

But Tanner is making things complicated. He’s smart, intuitive, and charming, and— Whoa! I’ve learned my lesson. This is temporary. I’m not Tanner’s cowboy. I might be attracted to him, but I can handle it.

I hope.

Okay, fine. I may need some Christmas magic to get out of this with my heart in one piece. Wish me luck.

A Cowboy Holiday is an MM, bisexual romance featuring a single dad-cowboy-grump, a sweetheart of a rancher, and some holiday magic.
Happy sigh. Lane Hayes has done it again. This book gives you the warm fuzzies while also making you want to slap one of the characters. Sometimes they are just hard headed. LOL. I loved this story and kept smiling, but there were moments when I would cringe because I wanted to yell at them to pull their heads out of their... And the little girl...adorable! This one is a must read. Good story. Great characters. Just perfect for the holiday season. 4.5 stars.
A moment later, a beast of a man appeared out of nowhere.

A beast.

No kidding. Axel was…huge.

Enormous.

He was a good three inches taller than my six foot two, and he was built like a refrigerator— broad shoulders, a thick torso, and thighs like ham hocks. He wasn’t heavy, necessarily, but there was a lot of him. His cowboy hat hid part of his face, however, I could tell he had brown hair, a neat beard, a strong nose, and a faded scar on the left side of his cheek.

Axel the vet wasn’t a handsome man, but I left a margin for error since I couldn’t see his eyes. Hot or not, there was something compelling about him. He wasn’t someone who could be easily ignored. He filled a damn barnyard with his intimidating size and obvious strength. I couldn’t imagine being in a small room with him.

My studying glance was quick but thorough. He wore a protective apron over a blue plaid shirt, dark jeans, muddy work boots, and a battered cowboy hat. Yeah, I had to admit that Dennis’s description fit. Axel could have been a lumberjack, a contractor, or…a cowboy.

I sensed Axel was checking me out too, probably wondering if I had a problem taking a hint. He wanted me gone, ASAP. He had shit to do and no time for pleasantries with nosy visitors.

There was only one way to deal with this type of customer: kill ’em with kindness, and sprinkle in some Spade charm.

“I’m Tanner Spade. I hear you’re new in town. Welcome.” My megawatt smile didn’t garner even a hint of a response, but I barreled on, undeterred. “I was just talking to Dennis about purchasing his herd.” Not a twitch. “Beautiful animals. We had Jerseys for a while, but I’ve always been partial to the Holstein breed. We’ve got a few dozen at Oak Ridge now, and I’m

lookin’ forward to adding to our bunch.” Nothing. “Dennis says you’ve been caring for them?”

“Hmph.”

His grunt felt like progress…and a challenge to see what else I could get out of him. However, winning over a grumpy vet wasn’t my priority. I didn’t have time to linger here. They needed me at the ranch.

“They seem to be in good shape and Dennis agrees, but I’m gonna need a bill of health for each animal, including vaccinations, deworming history, diseases, or concerns with disposition or injuries. You know…the basics.”

More staring.

Dennis pulled his hat off and scratched his balding head. “Axel, can you get that paper work to Tanner by tomorrow?”

“I can do that.” Axel’s deep timbre echoed in the yard.

I should have walked away. I’d obviously caught Axel while he was in the middle of something, and he didn’t give “ray of sunshine” vibes. But I’d never been good at leaving well enough alone.
Lane Hayes lives in sunny Southern California with her amazing husband, who thankfully doesn’t mind cooking, and their fabulous fox red Labrador, George, who’s pure mischief. Both provide oodles of inspiration for the low-angst, humorous books Lane loves to write. She’s been telling stories about sexy, funny, sometimes geeky and quirky men who find

love for a dozen years now and loving every minute. In her previous life, she sat at a desk and dealt with numbers, so yes…romance is much more satisfying!

Lane loves tea, travel, and chocolate…in any order. Add a book and she’s set!
