Review Only: Northwoods Magic by Desiree Lafawn

Northwoods Magic
by Desiree Lafawn
(Northwoods Fairy Tales, #1)
Publication date: July 24th 2017
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance
Quinn Reynolds is desperate for answers. After a near fatal accident, Quinn’s life changes and she is suddenly plagued by dreams of ravens, magic, and a boy with copper-ringed eyes. Told by her doctors that she is delusional, Quinn travels to the Northwoods of Minnesota to find out the truth. But Quinn has another problem that she hasn’t shared. Not only does she dream of magic, she also possesses her own power as well.

Corbin Olsen has been battling his own demons for the last ten years. After sacrificing everything to save Quinn’s life, she forgot about him completely. He’s thought of her constantly in the years she’s been gone, but nothing prepared him for the woman she has become. Although angry at her for leaving him, Corbin isn’t able to dismiss his need for her.

But Corbin and Quinn are running out of time for a meaningful reunion, the real evil is back and hunting the prey that escaped them all those years ago.
Magic plus love equals Northwoods Magic. An accident changed Quinn's life and left her with more questions than answers. Dreams plague her, but she doesn't understand them. Corbin saved Quinn and then she disappeared, but he never forgot about her. Now she is back and finds out the truth. Will they be able to battle the evil out to get her together? Read to find out.

I give this book 3.5 stars. I felt like there were parts that were lacking and dragged. Plus I think the characters could have had more depth. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I do think it could have been so much more. The story was good though and I'm intrigued enough to read book two.
When Quinn was sixteen, she had a horrific accident. For ten years after, she had nightmares and what could only be described as psychotic breakdowns. Finally desperate for answers, Quinn returns to the scene of the accident and learns that The Green Man and Corbin, her raven turned man, saved her ten years ago from an evil entity.

Now that Quinn is back, can she solve her problems? Can Corbin and the Green Man help her?

I liked the basic premise of this story. It has romance and magic, but I felt that I could have used more of each. This was a nice read, however. It just made me want more of either.
Quinn had an accident when she was little, while visiting Northwoods Minnesota. Its changed her life but not for the better. She has become a shut-in. She finally works up the courage to go back and figure out what happened all those years ago.

Corbin saved Quinn years ago, and felt abandoned when she left. He was caught off guard when she finally did arrive and he tried to keep his distance, still hurt and not understanding why she left.

As Quinn slowly uncovers what she is and what happened, Corbin starts to understand. Slowly they help each other and form an unbreakable bond.

What happens, well you will have to one click to find out.

To ensure women stay and are subservient, they drug them with a drug called Blyss... it makes the captor euphorically happy. But Jules is a strong girl and bucks the very idea and drug at every turn.

Travis is in charge of "breaking" the new girls in. There is an immediate connection between him and Jules that he tries to brush off but he can't help feel for her. He wants to help her but has a job to do. In one instant he makes Jules believe that he feels for her and in the next instant that she is nothing more than a slave.

Thank God this picked up right where we left off... Travis walking out the door leaving her with Nick.

Julianna has to learn how to play by Nick's rules, bidding her time while she tries to formulate a plan of escape. Travis is gone and she feels like she could have never counted on him in the first place.

At first Jules plays the game perfectly, Nick has no clue. She constantly is comparing the two men in her mind. She misses Travis yet at the same time chastises herself for it. How could she miss someone who had a part in her abduction.

In this book you learn more about Nick. Nick is very dominant and controlling and in his sick and twisted mind he wants Julianna as his forever.

At the end of this.... wow. It'll leave you begging for book three.

Who will finally "win" her after all? Will she be able to look at more than just her being used?

Seriously - go one click this now. In fact... read the whole damn series. You will not be disappointed.

This is not your typical romance. Blyss is a raw and gritty series that will have your heart pumping. A word of caution though - this series deals with dark subject matter and isn't for the faint of heart, it may also include triggers for some.

The story focuses mainly on Travis and Julianna.

Travis personafies the bug bad wolf in every sense of the word. When saying he is the lesser of two evils when it comes to Nick, is saying a lot.

Juls finds herself in a very dangerous and scary situation. Torn from her family home and forced to spend her days under lock and key, while strangers watch her every move.

Finding Travis seems to be her saving grace until, she thinks he turns on her too.

This series will keep you guessing and questioning everything you think you know about what's unfolding.

If you're looking for something different and can handle the anticipation, angst and grit, this book is for you! 4 star read for sure.

The Blyss Trilogy by JC Cliff will stir you up and mess with your mind to the point you don’t know what end is up. It really needs to come with a warning label that if you have anxiety, proceed with caution. LOL! Besides that, it is full of action, intrigue, and more than a few surprises that will leave you guessing.

Jules is kidnapped and is ready to fight her kidnappers every step of the way, but they have the Blyss drug and it makes it harder to stand her ground than it should be. Plus there is an underlying current between her and the trainer Travis that leaves her feeling like she is cheating on her fiancé.

The man who kidnapped her, Nick, says he loves Jules, but he wants to keep her drugged up and submissive. Travis says that she is nothing but a slave, however, there is something in his eyes. In her opinion, neither man is good for her. And yet, we find that there is so much more to Travis than he appears and he becomes the hero you want him to be.

If you have read Quinn, this series actually fills in the gaps about Blyss and this is where we are first introduced to Quinn. Although both can be read without the other, it does help to understand a few things.

I’m not going to lie, this book had my anxiety flaring at any given point and I would have to set it down and come back to it. It is a cluster, but in a good way. The mystery and action will keep drawing you in, and you need to know what happens next. The end felt a little rushed, but I understand what the author was doing with it. I do recommend reading it and give it 4 stars. Once click today!

JC Cliff literally stole my breath away in this first book multiple times from gasping and saying WTF!  This book will not be for everyone but if you like a different style then just your everyday romance with a dark twist then this is certainly going spike your interest.  And JC wouldn't have it any other way than ending her book in a cliffy... and OMG what a cliffy it is...

Blyssful Lies is the second book in the Blyss Trilogy. I thought the first book Blyss was amazing but damn if this didn't top it 100%! This is a trilogy so there will be another book so as you may have already figured out it ends in a cliffy.. a huge disturbingly frightening cliffy! Even though I never give a cliffy a 5 star there was no way I was not given this a huge 5 stars! Even though some might find this story quite disturbing I freaking loved every minute of it so far.. I am really getting tired of the same old love story and this story so far is nothing ordinary it will keep you on your toes and having many WTF moments. The chemistry between these characters is off the charts and damn if J.C. Cliff hasn't found her way into being one of my authors. I don't want to give to much away because even the littlest of hints or teasers will give the story line away!

WOW! What an ending to a great series!  This was a wild ride from the first book all the way to the third.  You will want to pick up this series asap!  We get more from these characters when we get to read the side characters stories!  Quinn which is out now in a 2 book series.. and Stryker is coming can't wait!

It is refreshing to read a second book and not have a recap hindering my reading. I like being able to pick up right where we left off. And where we left off was where Lana hid away after Jack left her.

Lana was still reeling from heartbreak at Jack's departure. She withdrawls and focuses on her thesis paper. But Cal.. Cal is determined to get Lana to move. Not necessarily move on but to just move. He knows that Jack took a piece of her heart. But he is determined to get her to love again. The things he does for Lana are sweet, nurturing and sexy. He let's her have control too, they become equals.

Just as Lana succumbs to her feelings to Cal, and lets love creep back into her heart, the world comes crashing down around her.

Going into this I was determined to stay #TeamJack, but Cal did worm his way in and made a special hole for me. Let me tell you though, by the end of this book I was #TeamNobody.

Want to know what I am talking about?? Then go one click this - you will not be disappointed. Can't wait for Yours Forever (book #3) to get my conclusion.

Yours Completely was the second book in the Reign Series and if you thought the first book Yours Tonight ended with a mind aching cliffy oh you just wait because this one about killed me!  I would give this book a 4.5 stars and would recommend to others.  When I started book 1 I never imagined the road this book was going to take.. it has turned into a massively messed up love triangle that will have your head spinning on who Lana should choose.. although this book was more about the relationship that gets built with Cal you will still feel the loss of Jack.  To be completely honest I am having a mind blow of a time trying to figure out who is the better guy here... And believe me your gonna be team Jack.. then Team Cal.. and you will not know what to do.  So lets hope in the third book Yours Forever that I can finally decide because damn this ending set me off big time!

This book will pick up right where Yours Tonight left us.. Jack left without a trace and who is there to pick up the pieces.. Cal the sexy fireman and Jack's best friend.  What started out as a friendship for Lana turned into more than she ever bargained for... but when danger lurks and secrets come out and pasts come back... pieces of a a puzzle that Lana didn't realize was happening will start to fall in place and again she won't know where to turn or who to turn too.....and all puzzles pieces haven't even been revealed yet.  What will happen when she finds out that things she thought were true were just a lie and more than one person had been deceiving her?

Twist and turns will leave you swaying and yelling at this poor author because your going to have another WTF moment... I know I did... but im intrigued I have to know how this ends.. I have to know comes next and dammit If I don't make up mind soon on who I love more out these men.. There has to be some grand gesture to come right??!!  Joya Ryan you are a new author to me and when I say I love to hate you please understand this is a good thing... my brain can't take the turmoil anymore I have to get the third book ASAP!

Review Only: Can't Buy Me Love by Rin Daniels

A grifter looking to make good...

Kat Harris is good at three things: lying, running, and listening to her con artist parents. All three collided when she fell for a man that was supposed to be a mark, forcing the Harris family to flee Sulla Valley forever. Five years later, her dad’s in jail and she’s back in search of a fresh start—and a new opportunity to rekindle an old romance. Problem is, the only family she has left isn’t so keen on going legit, and a criminal past like hers isn’t that easy to outrun.

A billionaire tempted to break bad...

Sometimes, two wrongs make a delicious right.

Kat Harris is a girl with a criminal past trying to make a clean break. She grew up in a family of con artists. Her last con ended on a sour note and her being in love with her target. Kat is now determined to go on the “straight and narrow” path.

Kat’s father is in imprison for a con gone wrong, leaving Kat with her mother. Kat starts to struggle financially between going “clean” and trying to keep her mother straight. She is banking on opening a hair salon to bring in her income. While the salon is being built she works on building up her clientele. In walks Adam Laramie, the billionaire lover of the con gone wrong.

The fire and the heat still burns between these two but Adam is afraid he still can’t trust her. Kat is determined to prove that she is legitimate and that there are no more cards up her sleeve. A series of events leaves Adam more confused and just as sure that he can’t trust Kat but still refuses to let her go. With the help of his father he finally realizes it’s because he loves her.

Will Adam learn to trust Kat? Can they take a second try at love?

I thought this story overall was good. There were plenty of times that I was confused by the wording but as a whole it was a cute story of second chances

This is a second chance romance with a twist.  This book had bit of heat, scamming and redemption in it.

This is a story about trusting your heart when all your experience and instincts are telling you otherwise. It took me a bit to get into it. However within minutes Kat was Adam were getting it on hot and heavy... Their story has a history and could have a future if they trust one another...

Kat needs a change. She's ready to settle down- find roots and make a life.  There's just one problem, Kat is a born and bred con artist. She's been raised by grifters. She's looking to make a stable future for herself.

"She tasted like everything he didn't know he wanted. She tasted like deceit." - Adam

Adam and Kat have a long history. He's been fooled by her once. Now, years later he's wiser and in control. He's wealthy, confident and a player. These two have a connection. But can he forgive her for hurting and betraying him?

"Kat was painfully aware of the narrow margin between right and wrong, was trying hard to stay on the right side of life - but right now right here wrong felt like a brilliant idea." -Kat

This book was interesting. I was eager to find out more about her dynamics with Adam and what had her running five years prior and how exactly she can have a brighter future. I felt they had a deep connection from the beginning. Kat has shady parents and removing herself from that lifestyle was a challenge.

I feel Kat deserves a HEA. Click Can't Buy Me Love and find out if she deserves one too?

I give this book 3 Stars!
