This book wasn't like most of the other Meghan Quinn books I've written, and while overall I still enjoyed the book, it isn't a favorite of mine. I sat here for a while thinking of what rating to give it. 3.5 or 4. I'm somewhere in between, and in the end decided on 4 stars.
Goldie's life hasn't been great since Hurricane Katrina, but she has managed to survive and she is determined. And things are starting to look up when she gets a black card. Enter Jett to save her, but he didn't expect to have his life changed because of her. He only wanted her as a Jett Girl, but now he also wants her as more because love does funny things like that.
The book is well written and has its quirky moments, but it seemed to also be missing something. Overall it was enjoyable and I'll probably read the other books in the series just to find out what else happens, but Bourbon Sins seemed to drag a bit and it didn't engage me like Meghan Quinn's previous books. That said, it is only book one and the characters are interesting enough that I'm a little intrigued. 4 stars.
This is a hard review to write. I wanted to like this book more, I really did. However, I had a really hard time getting into the character. Goldie's persona was a little over the top. Additionally, I had a hard time with the ratio of sex to plot. But that's just me!
I can see if you are into the more sexy stuff in reading, this book would be very appealing. The relationship is steamy for sure, and well written. It just wasn't for me.

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.
Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.
Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!
