Angelina Costello was the only woman to ever take my breath away. I couldn’t not speak to her. “I haven’t seen you since NYU.”
“I’ve been living overseas, studying history and architecture in Italy.”
“Italy! Molto bene. And now you’re back?” I asked.
“I am.”
“To stay?”
“I believe so.”
“Perhaps we could see one another,” I proposed, all the while hoping that she would say yes and saying a prayer that she would say no.
Her lips curved upward. “I see you now.”
“Si, and I would like to see more.”
With a glint to her gaze, she said, “I never forgot you. I thought at one time...” Her head tilted innocently as her lip momentarily hid behind her teeth. “Are you sure you aren’t still scared of me?”

I love Aleatha's books... I enjoy her dark side and her light side... I really do.. but this was just a good book..not my favorite... maybe not my genre..it was intense read not big on the romance but big on family... not that I don't care about family but I need a lil more steam in my books. I would give this book a 3.5 stars and recommend to anyone that likes the godfather or mafia books. This a pretty extensive read and I did find myself having a hard time getting through story but I am happy I finished the book.. I do look forward to more from this author in the future!
Oren and Angelina fell in love at an early age... but things did not come to fruitation for many years. They will deal with many things in life... love.. loss... family... but in the end what will come of there story?? Did they get an HEA??

Their story of sorts. This is how Oren started out in life and worked his way up within the Italian mob (Angelina's family). He meets Angelina and deems himself not worthy. In order to prove himself he takes on more and more... but at what cost?
It was an interesting story of family, duty and love. I hadn't read the rest of the series and I am sure if I had this would have made more sense. But reading this as a stand a one, it wasn't for me.
Wow! What a ride! This book had its ups and downs, and I really couldn't wait to see how it ended. Why the 3 1/2 stars, then, you ask? I think that boils down to personal taste.
Oren loves Angelina with all of his heart, that's apparent. But he does things that say the opposite. That's where I struggled. Some of those things just left me unhappy.
The family and mafia angle was very appealing and was very well described. If you are looking for a good read about one family's life as connected, this is for you!
