I look up into his dark eyes. “This is a dangerous game of cat and mouse we’re playing.”

“More like a game of cat and bird,” he corrects.

I straighten my posture, my nipples grazing his hard chest. “And we all know how that turns out in the end. The cat eats the bird.”

Nine lightly scrapes his nails over my bare arms before pressing them into my skin. I gasp at the slight bite of pain. “No, the pretty bird swoops down from nowhere and sinks her sharp talons into the cat, marking him for life.”

There’s no sarcasm in his voice. I don’t know how to begin to process what it is he’s saying. It takes all of my concentration to get out my next few words.

“And...and then what?”

Nine picks me up off the floor in one quick motion, flipping me back onto the bed. He crawls over my body, hovering above me, pinning my wrists to the mattress. He grazes his teeth over the sensitive spot behind my ear. He lowers his voice to a deliciously deep rumble that has me vibrating with his every word.

WOW TM Frazier does it again! I loved Kevin's aka Nine's story. I would give it 4.5 stars and highly recommend to others. This can be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the other books in the King Series prior- it will give you a bigger picture and help you understand all the side characters that are involved a bit better... and the King Series was on FIRE so you don't wanna pass it up anyway!

Kevin group up in the foster system, he had no family, and one day when he feels like giving up a girl will literally step into his path and change his outlook on life completely. A tragedy strikes and he is determined to live a better life.... and he finds that maybe he does have a family after all?

Lenny suffers from anxiety for multiple reasons but lately, it has been all consuming. She finds herself in a very dangerous situation and it will bring back a past she thinks about all the time, but this time will she finally get her life under control with the help of a man she didn't see coming?

While you don't need to have rest the others in this series (King), I suggest you do. You will love the whole series and all these side characters.

Kevin has been in and out of foster homes, abused mercilessly. He finally gets out and searches for a brother he never knew existed. Not able to find him, this is where he stumbles across a girl that he nicknames Poe.

4 years later and Nine (aka Kevin) thinks about her every day.

Loved this story, the way it unfurled as only one can while taking place at Logan's Beach. This story delves into Nine's past, the one girl who saved him to the one that can possibly help him now - Lenny.
