Wow! I walked in to this knowing a few things:
1. I already love all the characters in the Almond Bay series.
2. I freaking couldn't wait to hear Ryland's story.
And 3. Meghan Quinn - need I say more?
This book did NOT disappoint. Getting to know Mac better, seeing the Almond Bay family again, Gabby's story - all of it. What a great storyline and happy ending.
Ryland is so complicated. He's laser focused on taking care of Mac after his sister died. Pissed off that a board member hired his assistant baseball coach without consulting him doesn't help. When he realizes that his one night stand turned obsession is his new assistant, tenant, and neighbor, he tries to push her away. It's not that easy.
Gabby finally has her dream job. She is determined to make it work, even though her boss is the one night stand she had when she was in town to interview. To make matters worse, he's now her landlord and neighbor. But she's finding it hard to keep away from their obvious chemistry.
This is such a great read. Not only does it have the love story and characters we love, but it has steamy scenes and poignant moments alike. Wonderful story
With each Ms. Quinn's book, I always think I found my new favorite. In the case of this book, it was book 3 in a favorite series, so I didn't have to change my mind.
I loved seeing characters from Almond Bay again. These people (yes, people, not just characters) felt more like reading an update from family.
This one delves into the love growing between Ryland and Gabby. Each of these leading characters has their own set of struggles and goals in life but they come together (past meets up with present) in a combustible, steamy, sweet, comedic love story you will absolutely swoon over.
I am convinced Ms. Quinn can write a chemistry-filled story between ocean water and sand and make everyone fall in love.
This was a wonderful read with fabulous characters, fun times, and a beautiful love story.
While each member has had a different experiences in their traumatic past, Ryland has remained steadfast, loyal, supporting and loving. Even though he believes he is none of those things, and that he believes he doesn’t deserve love or that he will never find it. Especially since his number one priority is his niece MacKenzie (his deceased sister’s daughter). Imagine his surprise when a new teacher and his new assistant coach is hired behind his back, who also happens to be the best one night stand he’s ever had. She also happens to be his tenant.
Gabby needs this job and it feels like this is where she is meant to be. After her own difficult past and doing everything to help her brother succeed, she finally has a win. It doesn’t hurt that her landlord and head baseball coach is the guy who rocked her socks.
Now they are trying to navigate everything while trying to fight their feelings for one another. I absolutely loved this story, especially the ending.
