Gabriel Karne is cautiously optimistic. Life seems to be settling down, but in the past this has meant something unpleasant is about to hit the fan.

It’s a new year. The former con artist has a permanent-for-now address, even Keith-the-cat seems to like it there. No more rickety sailboats and living out of go-bags for Gabriel Karne. No surprises. No dead bodies.

Romance-wise, he and Ranger Man are easing into being a couple. A lifetime of habits is hard to break—for both of them.

Gabe has a job. Will he regret agreeing to it? The eight ball says, maybe.

Another damn letter--this time from a stranger--shows up, the author claims they have some of his late mother’s belongings. Great.

Additionally, a strange young woman appears on his new doorstep. She claims to be his long-lost daughter, and has completely sketchy documentation to prove it. It’s not impossible, and yet… Gabe wasn’t born yesterday, and Heidi Karne was his mother, after all.

The next time Gabe sees the young woman, she’s dead.

It will be fine. Everything will be fine.
Shivering slightly in the too-thin jacket he’d decided to wear that morning, Gabe peered out the Honda’s mist-coated windshield. He’d already cracked the driver’s side window an inch or so to try and keep the glass from fogging while he waited, but the heavy mist surrounding the town of Westfort and this particular hill was cold, cloying, and persistent.

Gabe was fucking freezing. But a favor was a favor, and Gabe was particularly suited to this one.

The address he was focused on sat across the street and to his right, at about one o’clock, maybe one fifteen, and Gabe was just a guy, sitting in his car, watching a house. As one does. Doing his best to appear unremarkable and commonplace. Not casing the joint. Not waiting for the creep inside to leave.

“Come on already. You’re going to be late for work, dude.”

Maybe Gabe’s idea of being on time and this guy’s were wildly different. Possibly it was fine for Randy to show up whenever he dragged his ass in. Gabe’s own job history was not the nine-to-five version, and he suspected that he also might not have excelled on a set schedule, but one thing Heidi had impressed upon him was being on time. A few more cold minutes passed before the front door opened with a loud scrape and rattle, as if it didn’t fit the frame properly.

“Finally,” he whispered.

A youngish man Gabe recognized from a selfie that Althea Mortine had shared with him emerged. Gabe lifted his cell phone to his ear, pretending he’d pulled over to answer a call. Randy Witherspoon didn’t appear to notice that he was being watched from the Honda.

In his early thirties, Witherspoon was of average height and carried a not-quite-to-term paunch that bulged under his blue Mariners hoodie. This was the springtime uniform for many of the less fashion-forward in the Pacific Northwest. The only things missing were sandals and black socks. Instead, he wore a pair of battered leather sneakers and socks that were possibly gray.

Gabe hoped he wore socks because wearing sneakers with no socks was truly disgusting and having that color of ankles was even more so.

Who did Gabe think he was kidding? That guy probably never wore socks. Gabe shuddered.
Broken, broody, mysterious, swoony, inclusive; these are my tropes.

It’s my grandmother’s fault! She bribed me to read with a Nancy Drew box set—and changed my life forever.

It was love at first binge read.

Is there anything better than a character who by the end of the story manages to redeem/heal themselves enough to fall in love? No, there isn’t.

What else? I love both cats and dogs. Star Wars and Star Trek. Pineapple on pizza, and have a cribbage habit my husband encourages. We live in a log cabin near Hood Canal in Washington State, if the sky is clear at night the milky way is visible. But most often I’m inside plotting yet another mystery/romance.

The cowboy, the rancher, and a little holiday magic...
Tanner

I met the grumpiest man on the planet and I’m head over heels in lust. No joke. Oak Ridge Ranch’s new part-time vet slash ranch hand is a bear and he’s built like one too. If I were smart, I’d keep my distance.

In a twist, I’m not so smart.

But I can tell that under his hard as nails exterior, the cowboy is a gentle giant. Axel is a devoted single dad, a dedicated vet, and…I think he likes me. Or he wants me.

I can work with that.

There’s nothing wrong with a little holiday fun, is there?

Axel

I need the job at the ranch through December, then I’m out of here. I have a kid to think of and it’s time to settle old scores and build a new life.

But Tanner is making things complicated. He’s smart, intuitive, and charming, and—

Whoa! I’ve learned my lesson. This is temporary. I’m not Tanner’s cowboy.

I might be attracted to him, but I can handle it.

I hope.

Okay, fine. I may need some Christmas magic to get out of this with my heart in one piece. Wish me luck.

A Cowboy Holiday is an MM, bisexual romance featuring a single dad-cowboy-grump, a sweetheart of a rancher, and some holiday magic.

Lane Hayes lives in sunny Southern California with her amazing husband, who thankfully doesn’t mind cooking, and their fabulous fox red Labrador, George, who’s pure mischief. Both provide oodles of inspiration for the low-angst, humorous books Lane loves to write.

She’s been telling stories about sexy, funny, sometimes geeky and quirky men who find love for a dozen years now and loving every minute. In her previous life, she sat at a desk and dealt with numbers, so yes…romance is much more satisfying!
Lane loves tea, travel, and chocolate…in any order. Add a book and she’s set!

Audio Blitz: Something to Prove by Lane Hayes

AUDIO BLITZ - Something to Prove by Lane Hayes
NARRATOR: Kirt Graves
Series: Smithton Bears, book 2
Prior Reading: Recommended but not essential
Genre: contemporary, sports
Tropes: Small-town, College, Hockey, Geek/Jock, Light-angst, Opposites Attract
Trigger/Content Warnings: n/a
The hockey star, the influencer, and the deal of a lifetime.

Ty

I’m going to the pros, baby! Deal made, contract signed. Now all I have to do is finish out my final season at Smithton and stay out of trouble. I like to have a good time, but don’t worry, I’ll behave.

What I won’t do is talk to that double-crossing influencer who’s been badgering me for an interview. No thanks.

I know Walker’s type—sweet as pie on the outside, a shark on the inside.

Get this…he wants to make a deal that sounds a lot like a bribe.

Not interested. No way.

But I am curious.

Walker
I’ve never worked so hard for an interview in my life. Ugh!

Look, I get that Ty doesn’t like me. As in…he won’t return my calls and avoids me like the plague on campus.

Too bad. I’m not giving up.

I don’t want to beg, but I’m willing to barter. Every man has his price—and something to prove.

Even Ty.

Something to Prove is a low-angst, geek-jock MM bisexual college hockey romance featuring a hockey star and the adorkable influencer who’s determined to win him over…
It's the final period, and the game is tied up. You just got a power play and the game is on the line...No, this book doesn't really have that scenario, but it feels like it at times. The push and pull is great and leaves you on the edge of your seat.

STORY: 4.5 stars
I love Lane Hayes, and I will say this book did not disappoint. A social media star with a huge secret, and a hockey player who is moving on to play professionally once his college season is over, but he needs to keep his nose clean. They are both under a microscope, and things unfold from there. At first, Ty claims to hate Walker because of something that happened to his best friend, but he soon finds that there is a very thin line between love and hate. Walker wants to interview Ty, but he doesn't know how to get the hockey player to agree. Until he does...and that's all it takes. A crack is opened. I love the way the plot developed and the growth of the characters. It was a fun read, and I highly recommend it. It will suck you in, and you are just crossing your fingers nothing else happens.

NARRATION: 4.5 stars
The narration was really good, and I loved how Kirt Graves gave each character their own voice. There were a few times when it was hard to differentiate between the two main characters, but those were few and far between and only for the briefest of times.

OVERALL: 4.5 stars
Great story, great narration...all in all, I highly recommend this book. 4.5 stars overall.

After kissing his boss, a client and his roommate all in one day, Simon finds that his love life is about to heat up.

Getting a beautiful man to look Simon’s way is usually the hard part, but that’s before he breaks his own set of rules—his ‘off-limits’ list that keeps him sane and stable. In a single day, he kisses his boss, a client and his not-so-straight roommate.

Maybe Simon is a greedy boy who sees the best in them, but he can’t help but want all three of them in his heart and his bed. Yet beauty can be deceiving. One man betrays him, leaving him with the devil and the devil’s worst enemy. Simon’s first priority is keeping them from killing each other, but when lives are threatened and the city turns against him, it may become an impossible task.

The building probably had more light switches than any other in the city, but with night pushing against its windows, it was nearly pitch black except for the tiny bleak emergency lights spotted along the stark walls. Within the compartmentalized offices, a few computer screens buzzed, with their colorful screensavers bouncing along with dizzying monotony.

Simon could switch the lights on as he crept through the building, but then someone might look up from the street below and wonder what was going on.

The office building emptied at six o’clock sharp every day. One by one the light switches were flicked off, so the entire building went dark as people filed out at the end of their shift. The neighboring condos were bound to contain a few curious souls who would call the cops at the first sign of something out of the ordinary.

Which was something he didn’t wanted to risk when he wasn’t supposed to be in the office in the first place.

There were only a few company rules that he’d discovered since he’d started working in the grand building a few years before. The strictest of them all was that he was never allowed to work late. His boss had called it a perk. He probably hadn’t thought to warn Simon that the deserted halls looked like the inside of a haunted house after dark.

Not that I haven’t broken enough rules today.

The biggest rule should have been that he wasn’t allowed to kiss his boss. It should have been printed in giant gold letters at the top of his orientation papers, which he’d signed for human resources on day one. There had been the salary information, the confidentiality agreement and the listed restrictions to keep employees from stealing clients and going rogue.

There had been nothing about kissing.

Maybe he should have tried harder to pay attention to the sexual harassment video they’d made him watch that had been thirty years out of date? The boredom had been so complete that he had almost passed out in the tiny plastic folding chair.

The kiss hadn’t been his fault!

Greedy Boy by MC Roth has the feels, steam, and a man with a big heart. I really liked the story and the concept for this book. The plot was entertaining and I enjoyed the booked. Simon is a man who has a big heart and kisses three men. His boss, a client who is Russian, and his maybe/maybe not straight roommate. There are issues and Simon must overcome them to determine who he really wants and what he wants as far as love. When I got to the end, I had a big smile on my face. It had great characters that you craved knowing more about, but I sort of feel like the author didn't explore everything as much as it could have been. I wanted perspective and just more, but I didn't get it. So they fell a little short for me. That was my biggest issue.

Good story, plot, and characters. I recommend reading it for yourself if you like multiple partner romance. 3.5 stars.

The Mars maestro, the single dad, and a wish list…

Chet-

Boy, am I lucky! Finding a living situation with a houseful of passionate scientists just before the holidays is ideal in every possible way. As the newest member of the Script Club, I feel it’s important to step up and tackle the to-do list my friends would prefer to avoid. Item one, address the tutoring request from the neighborhood-hottie-slash-single-dad on the next block. I’ve got this!

Or do I?

Handsome, older, sporty gentlemen intimidate me. And Mr. McSwoony doesn’t like the holidays. This may be a daunting task.

Sam-

What do you do when a new neighbor shows up on your doorstep with cookies and a wacky plan to spread holiday cheer? I don’t need cheer, but I could use help with some of the experiments my son wants to try. I know football, not science. Hopefully, I can talk Chet into a mutually beneficial trade. The only snag is that I’m seriously attracted to my local Mars expert. He’s unintentionally charming…in the very best way.

Don’t quote me, but this holiday elf with thick glasses and a mile-long list might be exactly what I need.

The Holiday List is an MM bisexual, geek/jock romance with a holiday twist featuring a lovable scientist and a single dad who’s probably on the naughty list!
“Who said I was lonely? I’m not lonely. I’m just tired of being with myself. That’s not the same thing,” I argued.

“Close enough. One thing that helps me fight the blues is an immediate change of scenery,” Chet pronounced with a wide grin.

“Thanks, Doc, but Linc is coming home this week. I’m not going anywhere.”

“You don’t have to physically go anywhere. You can just switch up your routine and add—”

“Let me guess…holiday cheer?”

Chet beamed. “Yes.”

I had to give the guy credit…he was tenacious.

I couldn’t let him think he’d won too easily, though. I furrowed my brow, giving him my best cranky scowl, and huffed. “You really want to decorate my house?”

He frowned. “No. I want to reset your karma. And mine. You’ve done a good deed here tonight, and I owe you one in turn. I also owe my roommates for their kindness.”

“Putting up a tree is going to help your karma?” I snorted.

“And yours.”

Somehow, I doubted that, but I liked the idea of having an excuse to see him again. “Fine. You can decorate my house.”

Chet whooped as he jumped to his feet. “A nice noble fir would look perfect in that corner of your great room near the fireplace. But of course, closer to the window. We don’t want to worry about fire hazards. What’s your ornament situation? I’m happy to purchase some if needed. Simple red and silver balls are always nice and—”

“I’ve got plenty of balls.” I stood, testing my shoulder to be sure I didn’t do any real damage, as I met him at the door. “It’s getting late. We can talk about this later. You seem like the kind of Christmas elf who needs parameters.”

He snickered, pushing his glasses to the bridge of his nose. “There might be some truth to that statement.”

“Just so we’re clear, I’m not gonna want to wake up in a winter fuckin’ wonderland.”

“Right. Got it.”

I braced my hand on the doorknob, scanning the dimly lit foyer briefly. “Come over Saturday. We can talk about it then. And…you can meet Linc.”

Chet narrowed his eyes. Not gonna lie, his immediate transformation from skinny geek to bad-ass science guy was kinda hot.

“Is this trickery?”

“No, but it might be a good trade. We’ll see.” I shot a lopsided grin his way as I opened the door, pointing at the chair that knocked me on my ass. “This is not an adequate security system. I’ll give you my number. If anything seems suspicious or if you need anything, call me.”

Chet typed my contact info into his cell obediently, then pressed Call so I had his number too. Courtesy complete, he fixed me with a no-nonsense look. “Thank you. For the record, while I appreciate your help tonight, I didn’t agree to—”

“I know, I know.” I stared at him for a long moment.

This had to be one of the oddest yet most interesting nights I’d had in a while. This was probably a good time to remind myself that Chet was my neighbor. My much younger neighbor.

But damn it, he was tempting.

I leaned in and pressed my lips to his. It was featherlight touch, hardly a real kiss at all. It was just enough to make him blush. Chet’s cheeks pinkened, and a flush rose low on his neck.

“Mr. Rooney…”

“Sam,” I gently reminded him. “Good night.”

Don’t ask me how I did it, but I somehow managed not to turn around as I headed down the pathway and up the street to my house. My lips twitched in amusement, giving way to a smile that grew with every step. When I finally got home, I let it fly, grinning like a madman as I chomped on a rosemary shortbread cookie made by my own personal elf.

Was I vaguely alarmed at the concept of letting him put a bunch of holiday crap up in my house? Fuck, yes, I was. Hot kiss or not, nothing was going to happen between us. And I was okay with that. Mostly.

Maybe he was just the diversion I’d needed, ’cause hanging out at home for the next couple of weeks suddenly didn’t seem so bad.
If you are looking for something to put you in the holiday spirit, this is the book for you. It was fun, quirky, steamy, sweet, and everything else you want in a holiday story. I do wish there was more and that the dynamic between everyone was explored a little bit more, but regardless, I still really liked this book. It's well written with great characters and a good plot. 4 stars and I suggest you one-click today!!
