Taren needs a do-over. She’s decided the best way to put the high school bullies behind her is to pledge a Taylor-Swift-lip-syncing, beer-guzzling, sorority. Sisterhood helps Taren find the acceptance she’s always craved, but not the love she needs.

Alec wants freedom. To escape his father’s iron fist and unrealistic expectations, he pledges a campus acrobatics club where he finds that drugs and alcohol aren't the only ways to get high. His addiction to danger helps him gain his independence, but it comes at a heavy price.

When the two cross paths, Alec fears his undeniable attraction to the party girl just might threaten everything he's worked so hard to earn. Taren hasn’t forgotten that Alec humiliated her back in high school, but she also can't deny the chemistry they share.

Alec and Taren have nothing in common, but fate is bound and determined to bring them together. They know falling in love is a risk, and yet it’s too hard to ignore. When their worlds clash and they both end up suffering, will they fight to stay together? Or are some pledges too hard to keep?

I fell in love with Laura Ward's words first in her debut book Not Yet and then once again when she brought me to tears literally with Past Heaven. I was so excited when I saw she had a new book coming out The Pledge and I could not wait to read it, I knew it would be just as fantastic, pull at my heartstrings just as much if not more than the others and I wasn't mistaken in my assumption.  Never having read anything by Christine Manzari, I just knew that any collaboration with Laura Ward would be utterly amazing and I cannot wait to read a book by her alone, if she can weave such an amazing story with another author I can only imagine what she can do on her own.   This book was a 4.5 star read for me and I highly recommend everyone read this amazing story of Taren and Alec as you will love them as much as I did I can guarantee it! I will wait with baited breath for the next book in the College Bound Series from these amazing authors!

"I promise that no matter how life might try to tear us apart, no matter how tangled things get, I will always come back to you."

Taren had shed her life as an outsider that bullies picked on in high-school when she entered college and the easiest way to do that was to pledge a sorority. Becoming the ultimate party girl allowed Taren to have what she could never quite gain in her teenage years, acceptance by her peers. Seeing Alec again brings back memories she would soon want to forget, especially the memories of how she felt about him, the most popular boy in school.

Alec shows the world on the outside what they want to see, especially to his father who has a strict path for his education and his future. College is a chance to break free from living under his fathers thumb every waking moment, even if his major and extracurriculars are already picked out for him. Seeing the girl from high school that he liked but didn't have the guts to admit to because of her "social status" wasn't something he expected, especially when he learns that's she is pretty high up on the social latter in college.

This story has amazing twists and turns, as each of the characters struggles to find where they truly belong, while also discovering who they truly are and were meant to be all along.  The Pledge will make you laugh, become teary eyed and even swoon at moments, each one worth it, having the reader turn each page wanting more.

"To be connected to someone by the red string of fate, means that you are tied together. Your lives are connected. No matter what happens, you will always be close and will always find your way back to one another"

The Pledge was another fantastic college book and I would give it 4.5 stars! I have read a couple books by Laura Ward by never anything by Christine Manzari... well that will change because wow these 2 together made a really great story and some fantastic characters so I would love to see what Christine can do on her own as well, because lets face it I am huge fan of Laura already. This is the first book in the College Bound Series and the next book in the series is The Color of US and I can't wait to see how that story unfolds! If you love a college romance with a few twists and some serious sexy heat then this book is for you!

I will not bore you with a bunch of details about the book because clearly you can get that in reading the synopsis and other reviews.. so I am just going to say you don't wanna miss this book, it is story that maybe even some young adults can relate to and it touches on a very sore subject for some.. but when you see the outcome that Taren and Alec have maybe that will give some young adult readers belief that things can be good no matter what highschool brought.

Thanks for a fun, exciting, outstanding, brilliant read and I look forward to so much more in the future! Even though I haven't read anything by Christine I can tell she is an amazing author.. but Laura holds the candle for me I haven't once been disappointed in a book she has produced and I am so happy that this one makes that statement even more true!

The first thing Christine does when she's getting ready to read a book is to crack the spine in at least five places. She wholeheartedly believes there is no place as comfy as the pages of a well-worn book. She's addicted to buying books, reading books, and writing books. Books, books, books. She also has a weakness for adventure, inappropriate humor, and coke (the caffeine-laden bubbly kind). Christine is from Forest Hill, Maryland where she lives with her husband, three kids, and her library of ugly spine books.
