Researching for his master’s thesis, botanist Aled Demers’s life is about to unravel. One torturous nightmare run-in with drug runners leaves him permanently scarred. He knows he’s lucky to be alive after being rescued by a group of SEALs, but suffering from PTSD takes its toll.
The SEAL and the botanist come from different worlds, but one rescue links them together. Can Aled recover enough strength to risk his heart? Will Wyatt’s leaving the navy force him to reassess more than just his career choices?
The Botanist is a short story introducing two key members to The Sin Bin series.
Navy SEAL, Wyatt Earp saved Aled from drug runners, but now Aled has to deal with the after effects from the traumatic experience. Thankfully, Wyatt is there to help him through that as well.
I loved this book. Like with most books by Dahlia Donovan, the book is high in emotion and the relationships are the focus, but I think with this one it is so much more than any other book I've read by this author. I also have to applaud her on this story. So many times in military romances, I read about PTSD and it is thrown into the background or mentioned as an afterthought, but not in this book. While it was not the main focus, the way it was portrayed was perfect and was not some parting thought. While this book is not as heavy on the steam as previous books, I think it works perfectly for this book. It is about the relationship, healing, and overcoming. A quick read that pulls at the heartstrings, puts a smile on your face, and a tear in your eye. I recommend everyone one click this 5 star read today!

Dahlia Donovan wrote her first romance series after a crazy dream about shifters and damsels in distress. She prefers irreverent humour and unconventional characters. An autistic and occasional hermit, her life wouldn’t be complete without her husband and her massive collection of books and video games.
