Title: The Anti-Boyfriend
Author: Penelope Ward
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 31, 2020
From New York Times bestselling author
Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.
At first,
my neighbor Deacon frustrated me.
Sure, he
was great-looking and friendly.
But our
walls were thin, and on occasion, he’d bring women to his place and keep me
awake while he “entertained” them.
As a single
mother to an infant, I didn’t appreciate it.
So, finally
it was my turn.
When my
daughter wouldn’t stop wailing one night, Mr. Manwhore came knocking on my
door.
Miraculously,
at the sound of his voice, Sunny stopped crying. And when he held her…she
eventually fell asleep in his arms.
Deacon was
rough on the exterior, but apparently on the inside? Mr.
Single-and-Ready-to-Mingle was a baby whisperer.
After that
night, we became friends.
He’d go for
coffee runs. Come over to chat. Normal friend stuff.
But over
time, our conversations ran deeper. We got closer.
Until one
night we crossed the line.
Our
friendship turned into a complicated mess.
I’d gone
and fallen for a guy who’d sworn off commitment and kids.
I knew
Deacon was starting to care for me too, even though Sunny and I didn’t fit into
any plan he’d ever imagined for himself.
He was
wrong for me—so wrong that I’d dubbed him the “anti-boyfriend.”
Then why
did I wish more than anything that I could be the one woman to change him?
I think I need a fan after reading this book. It has steam to spare and a great story to support it.
Deacon may have a reputation, and he may be all wrong for Carys, but as a young, single mom, she tries to fight it and has a hard time doing it. The book is enjoyable and has a cast of characters that are intriguing and likable. They pull you in, and you find yourself turning page after page. It isn't all easy street after they meet, in fact, how they meet leaves a lot to be desired, but that is one of the many things that will hold you captive as you read this book.
I absolutely loved this book, the characters, and everything about it. It was a wonderful read that was hard to put down. I highly recommend this 4.5 star book and suggest you one-click today!
The Anti Boyfriend Who Is Everything But Anti
Single mom meets the hero of the night, Mr. Manwhore, Deacon. Yes, he's hot. Yes, he's single. And yes, he is the neighbor you'd like to... well, let's just say, you'd like to keep him warm. That is, if you were single and interested, which our leading lady is not. Well, maybe? Perhaps? Okay, yes.
Dreams or life plans change, as our mom finds out. And, Deacon as well.
This story was sweet, heart-warming, and steamy. OMG! Was it ever steamy. And several drool-worthy scenes. And the journey our two leads go on is so well-written and absolutely done in Penelope Ward style... and up a few notches. Penelope has hit this one out of the park as she brings the laughter, the emotions, and the heat all wrapped in this fabulous bow that is The Anti Boyfriend.
Talk about taking the reader on a rollercoaster! I feel as though I rode every ride in the park.
Amazingly well-written dialogue, developed characters who share their thoughts and emotions with the readers, scenes that take you to their location, and a storyline that leaves you glued to the pages as you read are all part of what you'll get when you dig in to this beautiful story of Carys and Deacon (who, in my opinion, is TOTALLY boyfriend material, if I wasn't married, and he was real, but I am married, and he's fictional, but I have a great imagination).
I absolutely recommend this one to all lovers of romance, second chance at love, friends-to-lovers stories.
