Blog Tour and Review: My Sweet Demise by Shana Vanterpool

Desperation makes a girl do crazy things…

When twenty-one year old Raina O’Connor is kicked out of her room on short notice, she’s thrown into a frantic search for a new place to stay. As the situation becomes more urgent, her choices have dwindled to her least favorite option—ladies’ man, Kent Nicholson.

Kent Nicholson loves women, just not as a roommate…

When a gorgeous blonde with big hazel eyes answers Kent’s ad for a roommate, his red flags start flying. He’s looking for a wingman, not a chick who will put a damper on his game or drench his apartment in pink. It’s clear she’s in a bind, and something about her makes him break his own rules. But when he reluctantly accepts, it’s with four concrete conditions.

Be his wingman. Don’t get in his way with other girls. No bitchy attitudes. And most importantly, she can’t fall for him.

Pretty sure this was the world’s worst idea—ever…

Trust is something earned. Raina learned that the hard way when her father broke her heart as a child, making it easy to steer clear of relationships. But living with Kent somehow stirs emotions Raina has always forbidden herself to have. Plus, he’s everything she never wanted—untrustworthy, pigheaded…and gorgeous. Something tells her Kent isn’t free of his own secret scars…

Love can drag you down and spit you out, and be worth every second.

My Sweet Demise by Shana Vanterpool…SO GOOD! The book was hard to put down and had me weeping in parts. That’s not to say you are going to need gobs of tissues - you won’t – but you will definitely feel the emotions the characters are experiencing.

Raina has really only had her sister to depend on her whole life and was just kicked out of her apartment. Homeless with nowhere to go, she starts searching for a place to live and after searching all day, she find the perfect spot. The only problem is the person who placed the ad wants a guy he can party with, someone to be his new wingman. Raina, desperate for a place, agrees to be his wingwoman and she gets the room.

Kent is the king of the playboys and views women as tools to have punishing sex with. The last thing he wants is to live with a girl, but there was something about Raina he couldn’t say no to, couldn’t reject. So, he gave her the room with the stipulation that she couldn’t fall for him and she had to be his new wingman.

Everything changes for the both of them when they move in together. Between them, sparks fly. An electricity that cannot be contained or ignored. Even if they try with all of their might to do so. Eventually, they both succumb and fall for each other. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns for them though. Raina doesn’t trust any man. They are all the same and she can find elements of her father in each and every one of them. On the other side of the coin, Kent doesn’t trust women. He was burned and the last thing he wants is a relationship. Given the chance though, they might be able to heal each other’s hurts, heartache, and pain. They may even be able to find out what it really means to love person with your whole heart, letting go of the past, and move forward into a brighter future.

I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one in this series! Don’t worry, this isn’t a cliffy and you won’t be left disappointed. I highly recommend this book and give it 4.5 stars. Click and check it out for yourself!

Oh my how I loved this book! It has everything you could want in a book - angst, love, heartache, sadness, happiness. I was a hot mess.

Raina has been kicked out of her apartment and is in search of a new one. She didn't necessarily meet the ads criteria but she was hoping for a break. Kent and his oozing hotness answers the door and he and Raina come to a compromise in order for her stay - she will be his new wing-woman.

Kent is a pig and is looking to punish every woman he crosses, bag 'em and leave 'em. Raina despises him, reminding her of her own father and why she does not trust men, but hot damn if she isn't attracted to Kent.

They try to remain platonic but there was no denying their chemistry.

Can they trust each other to change their ways and have a relationship? Get to one clicking to find out. And trust me, all will be revealed.

My Sweet Demise by Shana Vanterpool was a story that I honestly did not expect when I started reading. In the first few pages I expected a love story between two college age students, each one's actions determined by a past that they were unable to control and almost refused to let go of. But boy was there so much more to this story. I quickly became addicted, turning each page needing to know what would happen between Raina and Kent. This book was a 3.5 star read for me and I cannot wait for the next book about James.

Raina was anything but your typical 21 year old; she was a virgin, who didn't drink, didn't party, didn't date, she basically didn't live. Raina was distrustful of everyone; especially men due to her childhood. Seemingly naive, Raina seems to get herself caught in situations where people take advantage of her in some way or another.

Kent is the typical manwhore of the story. He was hurt by the only woman he would ever love and unable to let go of the way that she broke his heart, he became a womanizer, banging any female who would let him and then tossing him aside.

Throw Raina and Kent together since Kent is renting a room in his apartment and Raina was thrown out of the room she was renting and this can only spell trouble for one or both of them and the reader waits in anticipation to see who will hurt who first. But when Raina slowly starts to come out of her shell and starts to actually live her life while Kent starts to slowly return to the man he used to be, is when the story really becomes interesting.

You will need to read this amazing story filled with an emotional push and pull and revelations that will shock you to see what happens to this most unlikely pair and I promise that you wont be disappointed.

My Sweet Demise was the first book in the Demise Series. I really did enjoy this book and it had quite a few twists and turns. I would give this book a 4 stars and would highly recommend to others.  This book has some definite steam, angst, humor, alpha male at his finest and sadness.  I would say it was a great combination of emotions all wrapped in to one great package.  This is first book I have read by this author and will continue to follow this series to see how other lives in this world unfold in My Vicious Demise- James and Rebecca's story.

Kent and Raina meet when Raina is looking for a place to live after she was abruptly uprooted from her former residence.  When she knocks on the door of this strangers apartment she will never believe where her journey will lead her when Kent agrees to her being his roommate.

There story is not one you would call easy by any means and oh the chemistry is off the charts hot!  You want to get this book asap so you can see how it all unfolds because you are going to have some OMG and WTH hell moments.  Get to one-clicking!

When I walk into a book store I feel at home. When I smell the pages of a brand new book things make sense. When I read I am who I always wanted to be. I read to escape and I write so others can as well. My family, my actress dog Bella, coffee, and a steamy love story are a few of my most precious things. My Sweet Demise is my debut New-Adult contemporary romance novel. Keep up to date with future releases by following on Twitter: @shanavauthor
