Welcome to Charming High.
Sorry, we’re fresh out of charm …
Hallie:
I am a star.
I’m not famous, before you make that mistake.
Although, I guess I kind of am. Or I will be anyway. My future was planned long before I was born.
The definition of a star is a fixed luminous point in the night sky that is an incandescent body like the sun.
I am a star. I am fixed. I am luminous only when no one is looking. I was stuck to repeat the same night every single day.
Until I met Wreck. And he showed me how alive I could feel within my cage.
Wreck:
I am a knight.
I’m not a knight in shining armor, before you start thinking I’ll save you.
I am a knight in raging darkness.
Until I met Hallie. And she showed me how to break free of my battle-torn armor.
Wrecked is the first book in the Charming Knights series by Shana Vanterpool. An exhilarating upper YA contemporary romance series set deep in the lives of Charming High’s most beloved football team. Where the limits of good and evil are pushed, desires and dreams are twisted, and readers are immersed into the lives of people who have it all. Except their freedom…
“Brilliant” - Amazon Review
“Unputdownable! Stunningly beautiful and unique” - Amazon Review
“It’s a story full of secrets, angst, love, heat, and laughter.” - Sandra Shipman
This book was different from the other Shana Vanterpool books I've read, but I think that's what drew me to it. Wrecked is a YA book, but it's also mature. It was sexy as well as innocent, and the author blended the two of those very well in this book.
Nothing is as it seems in Charming High, but that might be a good thing. They will fight, love, and battle for their own lives. The story was expertly told and put together, and I had a hard time putting it down. I loved this story, but the ending...can I please get more?
I highly recommend one clicking this book today. It's not like other YA books I've read. Angst, smouldering scenes, love, hope, fighting for freedom...all of this and more can be found in this one book. 4.5 stars.
I almost didn't actually read this story because it was set in a highschool setting, but in the end I decided to pick it up because of the author behind it. I really did enjoy this story as it reminded me of the whole gossip girl richy rich class of teenagers. As the story was flowing there were some parts that were a little bit weird for me but I did still enjoy reading it. If I had to criticize anything about this book I would say the ending... it was intense in parts of this book so when the flourish died so quickly it left me thinking that's it? and wow that went quickly and with no fuss like the rest of the book. I would give this book 3.5 stars and still recommend to others.
Hallie and Wreck have an unconventional relationship.. they were born to be together... but there will be demons they have to fight to get where both want to be.. but will they be able to get there and get rid of what has been holding them back all there lives?
Get to one clicking to see what happens... Can't wait to see who is up next in this series!
I thoroughly loved this story til the end. It felt rushed and abrupt. It definitely could've been made into two books.
Hallie and 'Wreck' are elite. Their lives were predestined for them. They were born for a purpose and that was to succeed their parents. They form a partnership out of some sort of self preservation - you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. But one of them isn't pretending.
But the more they "pretend" the more real it becomes. Hallie gets Wreck to break down some of his walls and show her the real him. The more time they spend together the more Hallie falls for Wreck.
Can they get out of their predestined lives intact and together?
Definitely one click now.
Can't wait to see if the next book is Ryder or Storm.
Hallie and Cage are trapped. Rich beyond anyone's wildest dreams, they are forced to live within the binds their fathers have placed upon them. Is there a place for love in all this pressure?
It has a lot of sex and maturity for a book about high school kids. Parts were hard to believe of 18 year olds. I found myself forgetting they were young so I could believe in them more. Worth the read.
