Don’t let my petite and innocent appearance fool you, because I’m one person you don’t want to cross. I’m Micah, the youngest member of Resurrection…If only they knew how young. My fake ID says I’m twenty-one.
And I will be…in four years.
What can I say? I blossomed early. Home sucked, so I left, determined to do something with my life.
Landing the gig as lead vocalist in the band was a dream come true. I’ve worked hard to make something of myself and nothing is going to ruin that for me.
Then He showed up.
He’s hot as hell and so into me. But he’s also twenty-five.
I don’t want to lie to him, but if the truth comes out I’ll lose everything, including him.
Wicked Innocence was great rock star story that I would give a 4.5-5 stars! This is the first book that I have read by this author and let me tell you I am a huge fan now! It is a standalone book and has an HEA! Thank goodness cause I wasn't sure I could stand another book with a cliffy. This was told in a dual POV of Micah and Saxon. I love the names of both of these characters they are so unique especially using a name Micah that most of us think of as a boys name just made it even better.
Micah is a girl with a dark past that she is trying to run away from. She has a big secret and she will never tell anyone, she can't it would ruin the life she has built. When she finally gets a chance to try out for the lead singer of the band Resurrection the hottest indie band in LA her life will change forever. Music had always been her life and finally she could feel the freedom she always sought after.
The second I began to sing everything was better. It was like the last few hours of worrying hadn't even happened. Up there, I was invincible. Nothing could touch me. Nothing could go wrong. That's what music was for me. It was an escape, where no matter how bad things got in my life, music would take away the pain.-- Micah
When she meets the manager of Resurrection she will have feelings that she has never had before. She is instantly drawn to him but she tells herself she can't go there with this man because he doesn't know her secret and if he did he would leave her in a heartbeat. Not only that he is her manager and if things ended badly between them her career would be over.
I sighed, as I pictured his face. He looked older, but he still had that same, sexy bad boy look about him. Those piercing blue eyes and that little smirk that was constantly playing on his lips... Who was I kidding? He was fucking hot; and he damn sure knew it.-- Micah
Saxon is the manager of Resurrection. He used to be a famous rock star but when drugs and sex became all his life he pulled back and is now trying to make a new life for himself. He struggles with he decision to leave the lime light of the stage but he knows that this is what is best for him now. He isn't completely welcomed into his manager roll and his cousin Harry made it known how much he despised him being his manager. When he meets Micah he himself is drawn to her and he doesn't do that.. he doesn't get attached.
The fact that I could barely think about anything but her told me I was falling hard. It was a feeling I wasn't used to. Saxon Waite didn't do love and romance. At least I hadn't until her.-- Saxon
He can't help himself when he is around her but his past taught him that he needs to be a man and not take advantage of this girl. He was trying to better himself and having any kind of relationship with her would ruin his plans. But he just can't help himself when it comes to her.. when sparks fly between them and neither can hold there feelings in any longer they seem to make it work but what will happen when her secret gets revealed? Can they make it work or is this secret to huge to ignore... does she finally show what a wicked innocence truly is?
She wrapped one arm around her waist and slouched against the wall, as if she had no idea how fucking stunning she was. Did she really not understand what she did to probably every guy she made contact with? She was a walking, talking wet dream. The sight of her drove me insane, especially when she dressed like she was tonight; tight skirt, low cut top, long, dark hair floating around her shoulders.-- Saxon
This story was truly one of my favorites this year and I look forward to more from Missy Johnson. Thanks for a great story and sexy steamy scenes!
He reached into his pocket and pulled out his ipod. “Put on some music if you like.”
I took it, letting my fingers glide over his. His eyes darted toward me briefly and my heart jumped. I quickly looked down, busying myself with his music collection. I ran through artists until I came across Severed. Smiling, I clicked play.
“You have your own music in here,” I said with a giggle.
He shrugged. “If I don’t appreciate it, then why should I expect anyone else to?”
“I guess. I just think it’s cute. Like an actor going to see themselves at the cinema.”
“You don’t think Nic Cage or Brad Pitt go to the movies?” he asked in mock horror.
“I don’t know. I met Brad Pitt once in Starbucks.”
He chuckled. “I can just imagine how that went down.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.
“Well, you were kind of freaked out when you realized who I was. Meeting someone actually famous? You’d lose the plot,” he laughed.
“Well, in my defense, I didn’t have posters of Brad Pitt all over my walls—” I shut my mouth, but it was too late. No, no, no…
“You had posters of me on your walls?” he repeated, amused. “Micah, that is adorable.”
“Shut up,” I mumbled, coving my face with my hands. He chuckled loudly next to me, clearly not ready to let this go. “No! No laughing. Just shut up and drive.”
Missy lives in a small town in Central Victoria with her husband, and her confused pets (a dog who think she’s a cat, a cat who thinks he’s a dog…you get the picture).
When she’s not writing, she can usually be found looking for something to read.
