is the next book in the series and it picks up with all of the action,
mystery, romance and of course hot military guys that any reader would
want to swoon over. Continuing on with the investigation into an ambush
that ended their careers without honor; this book focuses on Marz and
part of his journey of acceptance to having lost his leg and finding out
what he actually risked his life for when he was on tour overseas.
This book was a 3.5 star read for me and I cannot wait to read the next
book as I am dying to know what comes next for this amazing tight-knit
group.
Marz
has the duty of getting close to Emilie, the sister of a fellow soldier
who may be involved in the ambush and cover-up that ended their
careers. Only wanting to find and talk to Manny, Marz begins to date
Emilie but almost immediately it becomes more than a mission for him as
he begins to fall for her and hope that maybe for once in his life he
will actually belong to someone and have a love that he never did
growing up. Emilie is recently divorced from a man who harbored a
secret family that he decided in the end was who he wanted to be with,
leaving her vulnerable and alone. Taking a chance that she normally
wouldn't, she accepts a date from the sexy stranger that she meets in
the campus cafe because she hasn't felt so alive in a long time.
The
twists and turns that take place in the midst of the budding
relationship would have anyone running for the hills and never looking
back but Emilie is not just any girl, she is fiercely independant and
she gives each situation in her life her all. Marz struggles with
having lost his leg, wondering how his friends see him, do they think
that he is the weak link? He goes out of his way, often with the result
of his own pain and discomfort to prove that he is a vital part of the
team.
I don't want to give too much of the plot away as to spoil the story for you, but the Hark Ink Series is a must read for all!!
