(Sinful Serenade #4)
Publication date: May 24th 2016
Genres: New Adult, Romance
She's there to make sure no one finds out...
Jess James has her eye on the prize. She is finding the money to pay for law school. Period. She is starting a new life on her own. Period. And she's absolutely staying in Los Angeles, three thousand miles away from the people who expect her to lie for them. It doesn't matter how lonely she gets on her own, how exhausted she is from working overtime as a cocktail waitress, or how deep the knife wound in her back cuts. She is going to be a lawyer, whatever it takes.
Only she doesn't have what it takes. She can barely afford to pay her rent.
Sinful Serenade bassist Pete Steele has enough to pay Jess's rent and buy her a small island in the Caribbean. The famous, talented rock star has everything... except the one thing his manager wants. Pete rose to fame as a devoted boyfriend. Doesn't matter that his ex slept with his best friend, he needs to stop screwing his way through Los Angeles to keep his reputation clean. Pete works hard, and parties harder... and the sweet, blond waitress is exactly the girl he needs on his arm if he wants to keep the record company happy.
Their arrangement is simple: he pays her tuition, she plays his girlfriend. They'll lie to the world, but not to each other. Especially not when they're alone, in his bed, him figuring out exactly which buttons to push to get her moaning his name.
Jess is good at keeping up appearances. She can play the enigmatic rock star's girlfriend. But Pete shouldn't play games with a girl who's been broken before...
Amazon:
Play Your Heart Out is the fourth book in the Sinful Serenade Series. I honestly wasn't aware when I decided to read this book that it was the fourth book in the series, so with that being said it can completely be read as a standalone and you will not be lost at all. I would give this book a 4 stars and highly recommend to others. Now that I have read this one I am going to be picking up the rest of the books in this series. This is Jess and Pete's journey and it is quite the ride.
Pete plays the bass for the popular band Sinful Serenade, and he is the epitome of the playboy one night stand. He doesn't do long term relationship since his last relationship failed... but when his manager makes him settle down he will have to make it appear like he has a girlfriend...
Jess is focusing on working and getting money for law school, but when she comes face to face with Pete the famous rock star in a compromising position, she finds herself in an awkward situation when he finds her again after he will propose a deal...
What happens in the end?? Will they always be pretend or will it turn into something real??

What's hotter than a sexy rocker? A sexy rocker with a soft side. One who is vulnerable, charming and mostly harmless.
Jess and Pete may have met in the most unconventional way. But it seems there is an instant attraction. Just one problem Pete's not interested in forever. So Jess makes a deal with the devil himself. And promises not to fall in love. (We all know how that works our right?)
My only really complaint about this story is how weak Jess seemed initially and how comfortable she was with someone who was essentially a stranger. To be honest, it made her seem a little slutty at first, which I got the impression was not the case at all.
If you can get past that, this story is still a four star read for me, and one I'd recommend one clicking today.

Love can sometimes sneak up on you and surprise you, much like it did in Crystal Kaswell’s Play Your Heart Out: A Rock Star Romance (Sinful Serenade Book 4). Before you stop reading right there, this book can be read as a standalone and you will not be left confused or anything like that. I haven’t read the others and had no issues reading this book.
Jess James isn’t looking for love, in fact, her focus in on finding money for law school. The last thing she expected when she busted two people in the bathroom of her work is that one of them would be the bassist for her sister’s favorite rock band.
Pete Steele can pay for her tuition and offers to do just that if she agrees to pretend to be his girlfriend. She’s been hurt before and doesn’t like to lie, but she finally agrees. Their arrangement may be more than pretend though…especially when they keep sleeping together.
Overall, the story was good. There were times that it became a little repetitive and I think Pete needed to man up a bit, but I really liked it and LOVED the end. If you want to know what I’m talking about, one click today.
Jess has moved across the country to pursue her education and become a lawyer. Only problem is, she doesn't have all the funds to cover the tuition. She's stuck working as a cocktail waitress and barely making ends meet. She is determined to do this on her own, especially after she feels betrayed both those she thought loved her.
All of that changes the night she meets Pete, the Sinful Serenade's bassist.
He has a simple plan: he wants Jess to be has fake girlfriend and he will cover her college costs and then some.
Over time though lines become blurred for Jess and she feels herself starting to fall for Pete. But Pete has been hurt and the past and is adamant that he will never be in a "real" relationship again. Little does he know that he is already going through the motions with denial.
Can Jess make him see that they belong together? And can Pete show Jess what real love feels like?
