One lie can destroy everything...
After enduring years of manipulation and an immeasurable amount of loss, Charlotte Kelly makes one last ditch effort to change her life and try to find happiness again. She knows she’ll see him when she moves back to Wisconsin. She’s planning on it, the connection she still feels to him after all these years is undeniable. But one lie tore them apart years ago, and she’s afraid some mistakes can’t be forgiven.
Travis Parker doesn’t like liars. When he was younger, lies burned him in a bad way. It only took one summer with Charlotte’s innocence to know that she was it for him. When he thought he finally had something to look forward to, one misguided lie shattered everything he believed. Now, Char’s back, but she’s not the same girl he once knew.
Make Me Forget by Anna Brooks is a tale of a love that stands the test of time and the lessons that life throws at you in the face of one tragedy after another.  This book was make you shed a tear at times but will also make you smile and cheer for Charlotte or Char as her friends and family call her; for the reader can see her grow throughout the book, becoming stronger than she was when it started all the while reclaiming a life that was taken from her through manipulation.  This was a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend it to others.
"It's about how you feel.  he should make you feel dizzy, like you want to faint, but is there to catch you when you fall."
Charlotte meets Travis, a much older guy, while on vacation in her hometown of Wisconsin.  Never did she think that she would meet the love of her life while preventing him from drowning in his drunken state.  Spending every moment with him the rest of her time on the lake, all Travis wants from the only girl to capture his attention and maybe even his heart is honesty.  Harboring the guilt from an event from him past, makes a honesty in any relationship something that he is unable to live without.  The little white lie that Charlotte tells Travis could tear them apart forever; or bond them in their love.  Only time will tell.
After 5 years apart, the deaths of both of her parents and walking away from a horribly abusive relationship, Charlotte returns home to Wisconsin to be with her family.  Not ready to see Travis just yet, she swears her cousin to secrecy, making sure he is unaware of her return.  Her entire plan to prepare herself for their first encounter in such a long time is thrown out the window when she gets into a car accident and he is one of the responding firefighters at the scene.  Afraid that once he knows the truth of the life she is fighting to free herself from he will never want to see her again; Charlotte tries to push him away in order to protect herself from yet another loss of someone she loves.  But Travis has other ideas.  He has waited 5 years to see her again and be with her and he refuses to let anything stand in his way; even Charlotte herself.

Make Me Forget is the first book in the It's Kind Of Personal Series.  This story is about how lies can shattered a beautiful relationship and how distance can make things worse.  This story tore at my heart strings and slowly mended them back together along the journey that Charlotte and Travis endure.  I would give this story a 3.5-4 stars.  I would recommend this book to others and look forward to more from this author.

Charlotte had the most amazing summer of her life and met the man of her dreams Travis.  She never thought at the age of seventeen that you could find your one true love but she did, but the only problem was she lied to Travis and when the truth comes out it will shatter everything.  Charlotte through the next few years has to live with great tragedy of losing her parents... and she also puts herself in a relationship that is not normal and she is gets abused.  When she finally finds the strength to move away from it all she will end up back where it all started.. back where Travis is...but she doesn't know that Travis never forgot about her... he has been waiting for her to come back so he can make things right... but with all the lies and deceit will these 2 be able to pick up where they left off before the lies tore them apart?

Travis has dealt with his own tragedies and when he meets Charlotte he feels like his life finally turned around but when a huge lie breaks them apart he is hopeless once again... but he vows to himself he will fight for her while chasing his dream of being a firefighter.  When he discovers she moved on with her life he has to make the decision to move on himself... but one day when he discovers an accident years later and Charlotte is apart of it his life will spiral again and all the feelings they had for each other will surface again... but will it be enough?

"I was just thinking how I missed out on three years of happiness with you."- Charlotte
"It's sucks, doesn't it?  I think about that, too, but we're together now.  That's all that matters.  Our future is going to kick ass, sweetheart.  We're indestructible together; Romeo and Juliet ain't got shit on us."- Travis

“There are so many things I want to say to you. I can’t thank you enough for staying.”
“You don’t need to thank me. I take care of the people I love. It’s ingrained in me to be a protector, and I happen to love you very much, so my services are all yours.” He smiles again. “Everything I have is yours, my heart, my home. I know I’m not a millionaire or anything, but I promise you, absolutely nobody will ever love you as much as I do. There is no object, no monetary amount, that signifies my love for you. There are no limits on the hell I’d walk through to make sure you were happy.”
