Genre: Contemporary Suspense Erotic Romance
Release Date: December 16th, 2014
Learning how to survive in her new world, Julianna has no choice but to play “The game of Life.” Except it's Nick's game, and his rules apply. Captivity, drugs, and submission are the cards that are dealt, and it's a losing game. Biding her time as she waits for her rescuers, it's far from smooth sailing, because all too quickly the rules abruptly change as Nick takes matters into his own hands... As the drama unfolds, and hesitating to interfere, Travis has everything to lose should he decide to step in, including his life. It's opposition at its finest – freedom versus control as Nick and Julianna face the ultimate battle of wills. While Travis has the uncanny ability to manipulate her with a single touch, Nick struggles to conquer her body, mind, and soul. It's every man for themselves as each have their own secret agenda, including Julianna, whose plan is simple: survive.
I didn't believe that anything could top Blyss, book one The Blyss Trilogy, but JC Cliff has outdone herself with the second book in this amazing series. Blyssful Lies picks up exactly where Blyss left the reader hanging, and believe me I waited with baited breath for this next book. This book was a 5 star read for me and I suggest that you grab this amazing series.
The reader is back in the cabin with Travis and Jules, wondering as we turn each page if Nick is hot on their tails. I know that I held my breath and hoped that he wouldn't because although Travis was part of the plan that took Jules from her father and her fiance, the chemistry between her and Travis was undeniable. And I won't lie when I say I was rooting them for to finally each give in to their true feelings without the restraints of the cameras, drugs and Nick's watchful eye holding them back. And boy did I get my wish in a completely hot and sexy scene that only JC can write in such a way that gets the reader HOT HOT HOT. With Jules and Travis finally together and confessing how they feel about each other; I found myself starting to really like Travis, despite the fact that he worked for Nick and was a part of a business that specialized in taking women away from their lives to train them for men who hand picked them for their pleasure alone.
Travis was so caring when it came to Jules, making sure that she felt safe even though Travis knew they were racing against the clock, and that makes the reader fall in love with him a little at a time. Characteristics that I look for and I love in an alpha male character. Travis does everything that he can to ensure that Jules is safe, under any circumstances. He teaches her to shoot and has her act out different scenarios when showing her the way to the bunker that is hidden on the property. Although Jules believes that most of his preparations are unnecessary; she goes along with it and the reader can infer that she does she because she wants to please Travis, as he has come to mean something important to her in the time she has spent with him, even if she doesn't completely remember him.
And wow, can I say that Stryker was a fantastic addition to the story. I really loved his character and I won't lie that I want to see more of him. I hope that JC gives this reader her wish. This book had me on the edge of my seat yearning to know what would happen next at the same time hoping that what I thought was coming didn't actually happen. This book ends on a cliff hanger that will have you gasping in shock and also saying I need book 3 like YESTERDAY. JC Cliff is an amazing new author who has the ability to pull the reader in with her words and I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for her readers. This series is a MUST READ for everyone! I promise that you will not be disappointed!
Blyssful Lies is the second book in the Blyss Trilogy. I thought the first book Blyss was amazing but damn if this didn't top it 100%! This is a trilogy so there will be another book so as you may have already figured out it ends in a cliffy.. a huge disturbingly frightening cliffy! Even though I never give a cliffy a 5 star there was no way I was not given this a huge 5 stars! Even though some might find this story quite disturbing I freaking loved every minute of it so far.. I am really getting tired of the same old love story and this story so far is nothing ordinary it will keep you on your toes and having many WTF moments. The chemistry between these characters is off the charts and damn if J.C. Cliff hasn't found her way into being one of my authors. I don't want to give to much away because even the littlest of hints or teasers will give the story line away, but I am hoping ones that are reading this review have already read the first book.
This story continues the journey and captivity of Julianna and her captors Nick and Travis. You will get more insight into the mind of Nick which in a way I started to like him but that was all thrown to bits after the first few chapters... but damn he sounds like one sexy specimen. Travis is a whole other ballgame and in the first book I really connected with him and hoped for him to turn into the hero of sorts but as you all know that didn't happen in Blyss... but will it happen in Blyssful Lies??? This book will seriously test your patience and your mind because the mind blowing things that happen will leaving you spinning. Will Julianna finally be free or will more lies and deceit build that she will have no clue who to trust anymore?
You have to pick up these fist 2 books ASAP! I am sitting on pins and needles awaiting the third book ... please hurry J.C. Cliff I am not sure how much longer I am going to be able to wait without starting to stalk you or message you repeatedly... hahahahaha that will never happen..maybe???
J.C. Cliff has orchestrated quite a suspenseful series. It's edge of your seat stuff. It's totally dynamic, original and exhilarating. She has big talent and weaved a web that engages the reader completely.
In book 2 - Blyssful Lies, the action heats up. We see Nick go a bit mental and Travis do what he does best- protect! Him and Julianna do what they need to survive the danger. We learn more about there circumstances. We feel their undeniable connection and how it's complicated and undeniable.
"You seduced me into your fine web of lies and deceit." Julianna
I am a Travis fan. What a strong hero. He's brawny, intelligent and deep down he has a heart. He's a total Alpha and it's addictive. You will be drawn to him too.
"I have never needed anyone. Never! That is, until you came along. I f...... need you." -Travis
Nick is a nut.. Lol you will find his scheming ways sinful and immoral.
I promise you will enjoy this book from start to finish and yearn for more. I think this review is best kept brief to ensure the most optimal reading experience. It is an EXPERIENCE....
I give it 5 STARS for so many reasons. Grab it and find out why it's one I highly recommend.
J.C. Cliff is an independent author who strives to deliver a strong story line, keeping the reader captivated throughout. She loves the element of surprise, creating unique twists and turns while creating thrill and suspense. Oh yes, and lets not forget, making a little explicit romance happen in between. She's a die hard 80's rock'n roll fan, loves the ocean and salt water fishing. What does she do when she's not raising kids, running a business, and doing all the tasks that come with being a wife and mother? You got it - writing. It's the ultimate escape from reality when the ocean isn't nearby.
Nick sits down beside me, and he almost takes my breath away. He looks absolutely stunning. Even though he’s a handsome devil, I know he carries a big, red pitchfork. His persona screams debonair and suave, and his suit hugs his broad shoulders perfectly. He seems unequivocally radiant and contented, and his brown and gold-flecked eyes gleam with happiness. A waiter appears, interrupting my perusal of Nick. “Excuse me, sir. May I get your usual for you and a glass of wine for the lady?” “Yes, thank you,” Nick replies. Concerned my acting skills may falter at some point, I begin to grow nervous again. I hate this paranoia. I curse myself again for not taking at least one dose of Blyss today, just so I could be able to get through this evening without foible. Nick gently lifts my chin, garnering my attention. “What are you thinking about, love?” I steal a deep breath and think to myself, The show must go on. My lips curve into a small smile and I flirtatiously flutter my lashes. “Do you come here often?” Nick smiles with mild amusement, his eyes twinkling. “Yes, you could say that.” I don’t bother asking what type of wine he’s ordered. I’m sure I wouldn't know the difference between a ten dollar, versus an eighty dollar bottle of wine anyway. I rarely drink, let alone indulge myself with expensive wine. “I also see you have a group of fans,” I comment as I wave my hand around the large room. “Every woman here seems to be eyeing you up and down, like you’re a famous rock star.” Why couldn’t you have taken one of those women instead of me? His grin broadens. “You seem surprised.” “What, the fact women find you attractive?” I shrug my shoulders. “I won’t sit here and lie to you, Nick. You are a very good-looking man. I’m sure you could have any woman you want with the snap of your fingers.” “Yes, well, you will never have to worry about other women. I’ve had a lifetime of them, biding my time until the very day I could finally have you.” He leans in closer, all playfulness pushed aside. “You are the only woman I want to come to me with the snap of my fingers,” he pauses, arching a brow, “and you are the first woman who’s wanted to tell me no.” The way he’s looking at me, pinning me down with his heated stare, I can feel the apples of my cheeks begin to warm. So much is riding on my acting abilities, namely my ass as I pretend to like this man and try building some sort of alliance with him.
