Every woman wants me--except the one I sing for.
Seattle shakes with anticipation: they call it the concert of the year. They say girls are getting pregnant just thinking about my band being in town.
But when you love a girl, you don't leave her with nothing but a ring and a promise. Any man with half a brain should know.
So what did I expect my girl would do when she saw me again?
Well, for starters, she loathes our music. Particularly the song I wrote about her.
When I sing it, the stadium is in an uproar. Thousands of fans scream my name like I'm a god--but yeah, not her. Crystal clear: the girl's not happy to see me.
Black hair, black boots, a bad attitude, that's her -- Pandora Stone is a freaking man-eater and she's out for my blood.
That's alright.
Let her come at me. Because I'm out for her heart and, this time, there's no way she can stop me.
I am a fan of Katy Evans writing. I fell in LOVE with Real!!!! I liked Mine a lot and look forward to discovering more by her….. In Ripped, we got to know MacKenna and Pandora. They have a history. Their history was genuine, messy and exhilarating. But now, who knows what the future holds for these two… He’s in a popular rock band and has legions of fans, She is bitter and has a chip on her shoulder. When they reunite!!!! Eeep the passion, emotion and hurt… it snowballs and we get 1 awesome book!
“I gave that mother…… everything that was in my young, stupid heart to give, and he ruined me.” - Pandora
I enjoyed this story about friendship, sacrifice and love. MacKenna never felt good enough. He was different. He became her protector and understood her. She kept him a secret. Being a secret left him feeling insecure. Things got complicated, misunderstandings formed and now where do they pick up after living so many years apart?
“I found out that the girl I wanted to love me like I wanted to breathe….could never be for me.” – MacKenna
I fell hard for MacKenna and his predicament. My heart burst for what he endured and sacrificed for loyalty and love. Getting to know Pandora was a challenge. She grew on me as the story unfolded.
Katy knows how to channel EMOTION into a story to the 10th degree. This wasn’t a highly complicated story, but it was full of passion, heat, heart and heartache. I was eager to find out where things went wrong for this couple and if they could find redemption. I loved their intense interactions and banter…. This book was full of steam and electricity!
Katy is a clever story teller. She has many provoking thoughts within the dialogue of her books. When you read them they make you think, WOW, OMG, YES, how sweet… The words make you FEEL…… This is what sets Katy Evans books apart from some others. She has a gift for creating memorable characters too. Her hero’s are usually dominant, may be flawed and have big hearts. I can’t wait to see what she publishes next! I give Ripped 5 ROCKIN’ STARS!
Ripped by Katy Evans is the next book in the Real Series, focusing on Brooke and Melanie's angry goth-like friend Pandora. This book was a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend this series to others, especially the first three books about underground fighter Remington Tate and Brooke.
Pandora has been a secondary character in the story of Remy and Brook as well as in Melanie and Greyson's story, but the reader never really had any insight into what made her tick, why she was always so closed-off and angry. Digging into her story and that rock-god Mackenna from Crack Bikini is the source of her less than sparkling personality was interesting.
Pandora grew up with a successful lawyer mother, who was always making sure that she knew that all men lie and will abandon you. Never allowing Pandora to cry or show emotion, especially after her father died in a plane crash coming back from vacation with his mistress, Pandora closed herself off to the idea of love of any kind, even more when the love of her life Mackenna left her behind in Seattle without saying goodbye.
Pandora yearns to show Mackenna what an ass is and recruits Melanie to help her cause. Attending his concert in Seattle, she throws tomatoes at him while he is singing the famous grammy winning song that is all about her, and not in a good way. Once backstage, Mackenna recognizes her as the girl that he has loved all of this time but was never good enough for because of his criminal father. Determined to humiliate him even further, Pandora agrees to go on tour with him for a couple of weeks, be filmed for the band's movie and end the whole thing with a smoking hot kiss onstage. She wants to make him fall for her all over again and walk away, crushing him, like he crushed her heart all those years ago. Little does she know that her plan will backfire, because when she gets close enough to Kenna, all plans fly out the window and she follows her heart and ends up in his arms right where she has always wanted to be all of the years.
What ensues is a game of push and pull between these two. Neither one wanting to admit the feelings that they have for each other are even more intense then they were at 17, nor does Pandora want to discuss the reasons why he walked away from her without a word all those years ago and Kenna yearns to know if she loves him now like she loved him then and hopes she will finally saw the three words he has always needed to hear. Will these two finally break past all of the walls that hold them back and be able to be happy together? You will have to read to find out.
Ripped is the fifth book in this series. This is Pandora and Mackenna's story.. I absolutely loved this series and I would give Ripped 3.5-4 stars. This story can be read as a stand-alone but I wouldn't recommend it because you seriously don't want to miss out on meeting Remy cause he is my all time favorite character in a book. This story is about young love that was lost and how each person moved on with there lives.. but neither one of them realizing that it wasn't by choice.
Pandora is an angry scorned woman, she hates her ex-boyfriend with a passion that is so strong it could ignite a fire. She has only loved one man and it happens to be the so called ex-boyfriend Mackenna, she will never have that relationship her friends have ever again...
Love that I won't ever let myself wish for because I will never have that with anyone. I will never duck my head shyly or be the kind of girl who inspires a man to protect her the way my friends' men protect them. I will never inspire a man to want to change for the better because of me. Because I'm not inspiring. I'm the bitter one nobody likes to hang around with for too long. All because Mackenna wrecked me.-- Pandora
When she gets the chance to go to his concert she finds a way to sabotage him on stage as a way of pay back... but unfortunately things don't go as planned when she is caught and has to come face to face with the bad boy rocker Mackenna...... Makenna will add fuel to the fire by acting like he doesn't want her around but when a twist of fate lands her on there tour things between them will start to ignite once again, but will there pasts come back to them and remind them why they aren't together in the first place? Or will truth set them free before they are ripped away again?
The only way to find out how this ends is to go pick it up.. and of course get the rest of the series!
Katy Evans grew up with books and book-boyfriends until she found a real sexy boyfriend to love. They married and are now hard at work on their own happily ever after. Katy loves her family and friends, and she also loves reading, walking, baking, and being consumed by her characters until she reaches “The End.” Which is, hopefully, only the beginning…
