Blog Tour & Review: Intercepted by Emma Hart

Four people. Four goals. Four endings.
In the third and final book of the USA Today bestselling By His Game series, the rules of the game no one knew they’d have to play are blurring, and when the past becomes the opposing team, hearts aren’t the only thing at stake of being lost…

Finding naked pictures of her best friend on her boyfriend’s phone wasn’t in Everleigh White’s five year plan. Neither was moving back to Los Angeles, the city of dreams that never managed to make hers come true. There’s only so many years you can be in love with your best friend before you realize he’s never going to love you back, after all. If only her ex would stop showing up at the gym where she works, she’d be much happier.
Being a father at nineteen wasn’t how Reid North, the Vipers’ wide receiver, imagined his life going, but when his ex-girlfriend tricked him into parenthood, he accepted it. Eventually. Now, with his ex on the verge of being released from prison, he’s holding onto full custody of his seven year old son, Leo. Football and Leo have left Reid no time for dating… Until Everleigh comes back.
His best friend his whole life, Everleigh never knew Reid loved her. She left before he could tell her. Now she’s back in front of him, and he’s not letting go. Even if all he gets is her friendship again. But in a city like L.A., dreams come true when you’re least expecting it.

So do nightmares.
With their exes beating down their doors with demands and explanations, their hesitant and building relationship is threatened at every corner. They’re at serious risk of being intercepted by the past, and that’s a ball Reid is determined to catch.

Except desperation can lead to stupidity—and Reid soon realizes he can’t catch every ball, no matter how perfectly it’s thrown to him. This time a fumble could cost more than a few points.
It could cost him everything.

(INTERCEPTED is the third and final book in the By His Game series and can be read as a standalone, although it is advised to read BLINDSIDED and SIDELINED before, in this order.)

I pull some underwear out, complete with sweats and a loose T-shirt. I dress, much to Reid’s chagrin, and stand up. “I’m making coffee. Please get your fine ass out of bed right now.”

He flips over, shoving the quilt aside and showing me that fine ass. I grab the end of the bed and lean over, slapping my palm against the peachiness of his ass cheek.

“Ever!” he growls.

I laugh, hightailing it out of bedroom. I pause halfway down the stairs to yell, “Your fault! Show me an ass like that and I’m gonna slap it!”

“Run, baby. I’m coming for you.”

Again, I laugh, flying down the rest of the stairs and into the kitchen. I haven’t even cleaned the coffee machine out before his footsteps thunder down the stairs and he appears in the kitchen. I shriek, grabbing the back of a chair in the middle of the room. Reid advances, his steps predatory, his gaze intense, and his smirk hot.

“You don’t wanna do this,” I warn, trying to contain my giggles. “I can run fast.”

“You know I run and mow down big-ass guys for a living, right? I’m also damn good at catching things.”

“But I’m neither a big-ass guy nor a thing,” I counter. “I’m a sexy little package that comes with thongs and garters.”

He stops for a second, and I use his surprise at my words to make a break for it. I run into the front room, but he’s hot on my heels, and I scream “No!” as his arms circle around my waist and we slam onto the sofa. My stomach hurts from laughing so hard, and Reid’s own deep rumble of laughter sends shivers across my skin.

“You’re an idiot,” I breathe, pushing at his shoulders.

“Twenty years and she’s still surprised,” he laughs, kissing the side of my head in a way that is so familiar yet means so much more now than it used to.

“Always surprised.” My reply is on a dying giggle, and I turn my head to the side. The window faces the driveway, and as my gaze flits across it and the open drapes, I pause.

“Fuck knows why,” Reid says, still laughing.

Only, my laughter has died. “Get up,” I whisper, my stomach coiling with sickness.

“What?”

“Up!” I shove at him and extract myself from his hold. I run to the front door, my breath hitching when I open it.

On my dashboard is a white rose. Like so many before it.

Only it isn’t.

This one is draped in red.

Intercepted is the third book in the By His Game Series and is Reed and Ever's story.  If you haven't read the other books in this series no worries it can be read as a stand alone but I would highly suggest reading Blindsided (Corey and Leah's story) and Sidelined (Jack and Macey's story).  Although I loved all the books in this series but so far Intercepted has been my favorite and would give it a solid 5 stars!  The history between the 2 characters and there chemistry was off the charts hot.  An OMG that little man of Reid's was freaking adorable and made me laugh out loud quite a few times.  This story was under the pretense's of a sports book but really it only played a small roll in this book and shockingly I was ok with that.. and the twists and turns and the tragedy made me actually feel some pretty intense emotions and I devoured this story like it was my last meal.

Reid and Ever have a past they both will never forget but can they make a future together?  Or will all the turmoil that was caused when Ever made a decision to leave everything behind and Reid having a child make things to awkward??  They both want the same things but never have been able to tell each other what they want.. and 4 years has passed can they pick up with at least friendship if nothing more?  Or will some major twists and turn of events make those choices for them??

Go get this book and series now you will not be disappointed.  Thanks Emma Hart for a wonderful journey so far.. .but is this where it stops??? I didn't see anything about more from these characters and I sort of want me some more like now :) !!!

Intercepted is the third and final book in the By His Game Series.  Reid North was a character in the other books in the series that had a way of intriguing the reader.  A single father who lives for his son Leo, and playing the game that he loved professionally, I always wondered about his situation; how it was that he became a single father.  Emma Hart gives the reader everything they could have wanted with Reid's story and more in this amazing conclusion to one of my favorite series.  This book was a 4.5 star read for me and I highly recommend that everyone take the time to read it, because you won't be disappointed!

Everleigh White's life took a drastic turn that she never expected.  Finding naked pictures of her best friend on her boyfriend's cell phone was the nail in the coffin that led to her leaving the life that she was forming in New York and return to Los Angeles, a place that she never wanted to return to.  Returning to LA means returning to memories of the love that she once had for her best friend, feelings that were never returned.  Working at a gym in town, she doesn't expect to run into Reid North, famous player for the Viper's so soon, she just isn't prepared for the past to assault her in such a profound way.  And just when she feels like she is slowly beginning to let go of the past, he walks into her gym like a stalker, her ex-boyfriend the cheater.

Everleigh and Reid were best friends for all of their lives; and Everleigh loved him just as long, but her feelings were never returned which caused her to leave for college without saying goodbye or looking back.  Thrown back together by chance, both Reid and Everleigh struggle with the feelings they each had so long ago but never revealed to the other.  Determined to start over as friends, they begin spending time together, which only brings their feelings to the surface, in light of the difficult circumstances that seem to be on the horizon.

Reid worries that now isn't the time to try and start the relationship that he has always yearned for with Everleigh; with his ex and Leo's mother being released from jail any day now.  Worried that she will turn their lives upside down and leave tragedy in her wake, Reid wants to protect Everleigh from the fallout that may come, but at the same time he yearns to have her by his side because it only seems to make him stronger in his fight to keep her way from Leo.  Everleigh has issues of her own, she seems to have a stalker and for the life of her she can't understand why her ex-boyfriend won't give up since it is clearly over with them.  Not wanting to add onto the worries that Reid is already facing, she keeps the weird things that are happening to her to herself until everything comes to a head.

There is so much more to this amazing story that you will need to read in order to find out, but this story will make you laugh, bring a tear to your eye and have you swooning at all that is Reid and Everleigh.
