Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway: Storms Over Secrets by J.A. DeRouen

goodreads

Promises are lies dressed up for the party. Secrets poison the fairest of fairy tales. Lies stain the purest of loves.

I’ve paid the ultimate price for my choices. The tendrils of those sins bind me to my past. The remnants of my love hold me captive. Then he walks into my life, and makes me believe in second chances. He awakens feelings in me I know I shouldn’t have. I yearn for a future without guilt. With him, I dream of a love untainted. Regret is a far-reaching emotion. It barrels through time like a blazing comet, and its path isn’t always straight. No matter what I feel, I cannot bring myself to regret the time I’ve spent with Cain. But it doesn’t mean I can have him. My name is Celia Lemaire and this is my story of broken promises.

Storms Over Secrets is the third book in The Over Series, a group of interconnected standalone novels.

Storms Over Secrets is the third book by the amazing author J.A. DeRouen's Storm Series with a story that is just as good, if not better than the others in this series. I fell in love with Celia and Cain's story and I turned each page with the yearning to find out what would come next for the fiesty fairy and the overbearing guy who falls for her. A story that is filled with love that transcends time, showing the reader how love between two people can evolve into something entirely different than how it began as we become older and find out who we really are. This book was a 4.5 star read for me and I cannot wait for the next work by this amazing author.

Celia fell in love when she was just a young girl, with the boy across the street. An innocent love that held all of the promises that a young love does for the future, until her world was rocked to its core when she discovers that Lucas has a secret that everyone seems to be ignoring, even his family. Being young and naive, Celia makes a promise that she believes will help Lucas, but only appears to cause him more pain in the end. The reader is able to see the Celia in the present along with the Celia of the past and how she yearns to change and live her life, but the guilt of her past mistakes and the love of her best friend Audrey keep her firmly rooted in the past.

Cain has taken over the rental properties that his family owns. His standing rule to never become involved with one of his tenants is thrown out the window when he has to bring a key to the sparkly, tiny fairy like girl renting the house next to his best friend Adam. Drawn to her for reasons unknown to him, he helps her move in and slowly brings her into the fold of his family and friends; while slowly falling in love with her.

When Cain and Celia finally act on their feelings, what should be the most amazing time for both of them becomes one of pain and heartache. Pushing Cain away as only Celia can do because the guilt that she places on herself and that Audrey places on her is no match for the feelings that she has for Cain. Unable to be just friends with the woman he loves, Cain tries to move on with another, almost going through the motions of a relationship since the one he really wants is just out of reach.

The push and pull of these two characters will break your heart into a million pieces and that put it back together piece by agonizing piece as only J.A. DeRouen can do. I loved how this book proceeds the relationship of Adam and Sarah that the readers fell in love with in the first book, seeing their relationship from an entirely different angle. There are not enough words to describe the emotions that this story will evoke within you while reading and I promise that you won't be disappointed if you pick up this amazing series!
