Lexie has one goal in life: to grant one last wish for each of her patients. There isn’t a request she will deny, and has yet to fail to deliver a promise. That is, until the day she goes in search of the infamous rock star Kaleb Knight, who can’t care less about her life’s ambition, or the children she is determined to help.

Kaleb has his own dark secrets. He lives each day as if it’s his last, and refuses to spare a moment of his time to play the part of a knight in shining armor—especially for someone like Lexie . . . or so he thought. Now, his head and heart are at war, and his soul is screaming she is exactly what he needs.

Will Lexie be the only one that can save him in the end? Or will he instead succumb to the darkness threatening to consume him?

Wishful Thinking is the first book in the Dragon Night Series. I would give this book a huge sparkling 5 stars! This book had everything you will want in a story believe me. It has the hot bad boy rock star which happens to be a favorite kind of book for me, but it also touches a very sensitive disease that so many suffer from everyday. I was emotionally drained and elated with this whole book. You will need tissues no doubt about it but you will also need a change of panties because Gabbie will heat up the sheets of this book like no other. I will not give away any spoilers with this review but I will tell you if you don't read this book you will not get to see the magic that happens with this story. I have read many books by Gabbie and this one has been one of my favorites of her so far. I will always love Matt and his pancakes and Trey and his bacon from the Unspoken series, Joseph the sexy Marine from With Me, and lets not forget Nick the cocky ball player from Clarity but Caleb and his sexy tattoos and broodiness may have stolen my heart a little more! Gabbie can definitely make some serious book boyfriends.. I think my husband should be concerned (hahahaha). Thanks Gabbie for another fantastic book and I know this can't be the end of this series because there is a whole band to write about! Get to one clicking you don't wanna miss this one!

Wishful Thinking by Gabbie S. Duran is the first book in The Dragon Knights Series and it only has me wanting more from the members of the band known as Dragon Knights.  A book with filled with hope, dreams for the future, and laughter among the will to fight to survive, Wishful Thinking will tug at your heartstrings, have you grabbing for more than one tissue while you cry and have you wanting to root for each of the characters to make it through this difficult and trying time.  This book was a 4 star read for me and I highly recommend it to others, you will fall in love with Lexie and Kaleb as I did while reading!

Lexie is an oncology nurse at the West Coast Medical center, where she makes it her mission to grant the wishes of the patients there, children of all ages who are battling for their lives against the cancer that has riddled their small bodies.  Giving the children hope is something that Lexie strives to do and no wish is beyond her control, no matter what the cost to her, even if it means her job.  When her young patient Ben, comes in for his second round of treatment; defiant and upset that his disease has brought him back to the hospital, Lexie tries to grant his wish, having his favorite band, the Dragon Knights visit him in the hospital.  When Lexie goes backstage at one of their concerts to ask for what she believes is a small favor, she is amazed at the asshole that she encounters with Kaleb, the lead singer of the Dragon Knights who is reportedly leaving the band for reasons unknown.

Kaleb Knight has everything he dreamed about, rock star status and making music but the secrets that he keeps are tearing him up inside, making him act out and angry at the world.  When a beautiful nurse bursts backstage at his concert demanding his presence at the hospital to visit a sick kid, Kaleb doesn't even blink when he says no.  He has his own issues to work through and leaving the band while his bandmates pressure him to stay is one of them.  But he can't get Lexie out of his head, so he does the last thing he said he would ever do, he visits Ben in the hospital and starts to do everything that he can in order to have Lexie give him the time of day.

Lexie and Kaleb begin a tumultuous relationship, where the push and pull will have you reading each page with baited breath wondering if they will make it work or if there is too much blocking their path to love.  And the secrets that Kaleb is keeping from Lexie could destroy everything that they have begun to built, which is the last thing that he wants.  Will Kaleb and Lexie make it?  You will have to read to find out!  I can't wait for the next book!!

“Lexie?”

“Yeah, buddy?”

He sucks in a deep breath before saying, “Do you think there are stars in heaven?”

“Of course there are. There is anything your little heart desires.”

“Even my hot fudge sundaes?” His question causes me to lightly laugh. Of course he asks about his favorite dessert that he has been craving for the past month.

“Even your hot fudge sundaes,” I reply. “Before you know it, you’ll be having a stomach ache from eating too much sugar.”

This causes his mother to whimper as she struggles against surrendering to the breaking point. She’s always fought to not break down in front of Braden. She doesn’t want him to see how upset this entire situation makes her.

He brightens from the response, his eyes returning to the show above us. The entire time my view is locked on the little angel in front of me, knowing everything I’ve done tonight to make this possible is still not enough for him. He deserves more. He deserves a lifetime worth of years to gaze up at the stars, not borrowed hours as we wait, wondering when the end will come.

Unfortunately, the wait wasn’t long. Braden took his last breath two days later. I was at his side, holding his mother’s hand when he gave his last smile before closing his eyes for the final time. He took a piece of my heart with him at that very moment, but they all have.
