Ann is haunted by a past that won’t let go. The secrets lurking in Arizona are too much to handle, making a move to Nashville her best chance of survival. Her bakery is enough to keep her mind busy during the day, but the night brings nightmares that threaten to rip her in two. Tired of just living life rather than experiencing it, she’s ready to fight her demons and emerge the victor.
Only—she doesn’t know how to do that alone.
Duane has a lot on his plate. A lawyer for a prestigious law firm and a ranch owner, he hardly has enough time to breathe, let alone date. But all of that changes when he meets Ann.
A chance encounter at a bar brings them together, but it’s fate that shoves them into each other’s lives for reasons they will soon unveil together.
Can Ann open her heart and let Duane in?
Unable to Resist is a story about love, loss and finding healing in unlikely places.
He pulls my hand to his chest, just above his heart, and I feel the strong, steady beat. “My heart only knows one thing for sure.”
I look at our hands, a smile playing on my lips. “And, what’s that?”
He puts a finger under my chin and brings my face up to meet his eyes. “That I want you to be mine. I don’t want to share, Red.”
He looks intently at my face for a moment without wavering, confirming the intensity in the room. “I need to hear you say it,” he breathes out, finally.
I suddenly feel incredibly wanted and my confidence level boosts to an all-time high.
“I,” my lips kiss his chest, “am,” I lightly lick his neck, “yours.”
Duane let’s out an animalistic growl and flips me onto my back, thoroughly ending our conversation with hungry kisses.
"I am so close to drowning; I don't know how much longer I can take treading I the sea of my past."
Cassie Graham spins a story that has a little bit of everything a girl yearns for in a good book, a mystery to solve, awesome girlfriends who are your family, drama, and of course no good book is complete without a hot guy that we all can't resist! Unable To Resist is a 3.5 star read for me and I would definitely recommend that everyone pick up this one!
Ann is a feisty, head-strong, woman who owns a bakery in Nashville, but what you see on the surface is carefully crafted to hide the pain and loss that she buried deep inside. It is only after the nightmares of her fathers death become even more poignant and telling, that she decides to hire a lawyer to look into his case, that after 7 years is still open with no leads and that is when the reader is introduced to the sexy cowboy/lawyer Duane.
Ann is so closed off from relationships and love because she is unable to let go of the pain from her past and really move on, both from the death of her father, and from the boy who she thought would be her forever, Kyle. Ann is instantly attracted to Duane, something that hasn't happened since Kyle, but immediately puts him in the no-touch zone because he is her lawyer.
"That's right. He's just a man. I can find another one. Another guy who isn't my damn lawyer."
Duane, who lives to practice law by day and work on his hay farm by night, is dragged out to a bar by his younger brother Aiden when he instantly falls for Ann, before even knowing her name. After he shows up at her door for their initial lawyer/client consultation, he also puts her in the friend only zone, because even though he hasn't had this type of attraction for a woman since he can remember, he won't cross the line into unprofessional territory.
Only when there is a break in her father's case and Ann is forced to return to her childhood home of Arizona to speak with a potential suspect do the true feelings of both Ann and Duane come fully to the surface and they both act on them, in some very innocent ways. The story of how their feelings begin and grow and evolve over the course of the story had me swooning on more than one occasion.
I loved the characters in this book and the different dynamics that played between them. I loved the relationship that Liv, Mia and Ann had together, true girlfriends who would do absolutely anything for each other. Jason and Ann had an extremely special bond, that no matter how much time passed when they didn't see each other they picked up right where they left off. And of course the gravitational pull between Ann and Duane. There were times during the plot that I had the urge to yell at my kindle to tell Duane to ditch the gentleman act and get down to business.
"You are worthy. You are meant to love and to be loved. Mia and I both adore you. It's time to start believing in yourself."
Ann is Cassie’s middle name and Duane is Cassie’s husband’s middle name.

Originally, Unable to Resist was set in Seattle, and Duane wasn’t a lawyer, he was an author.
Cassie Graham is first and foremost, a wife and mother. She has one crazy daughter and a just as nutters husband that she loves dearly. She lives in sunny--all be it, scorching Arizona, where the summers are ridiculously hot and the winters are perfection. She'd pick winter any day.
Cassie went to school to be a teacher, but quit to become a proud military wife in 2010. During that time, she found her passion to write. Being a loud and proud choirgirl in school, she needed another creative outlet and writing seemed like the perfect fit.
If Cassie isn't writing, she's more than likely cooking for her family or has her nose buried deep in a book. She finds inspiration in all things. Movies, music, and life fuel her characters’ lives, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
