Blog Tour & Review: Something Real by Lexi Ryan

Reckless & Real #2
Adult Contemporary
Release: March 3, 2015

After everything blew up on Christmas, Liz walked away from me, and I let her. She said she needed space and a chance to pursue her dreams. But we both knew she was running from the mess she made. Now the political campaign she used as an ex- cuse to leave is bringing us back together and I’m proving to her what she really needs—not just the hot nights, greedy hands, and undeniable physical chemistry. What she really needs is something real. What she really needs…is me.

Sam
Security had better not have let one of those asshole journalists from downstairs up to my floor. I swear, those soul suckers would do anything to get a new detail to add to their nothing stories. I open the door without removing the chain and feel as if I’ve been punched in the gut when I see the woman on the other side.
Liz is worrying her lower lip between her teeth and watching down the hall. Is she looking for Sabrina or trying to make sure no one sees her coming to my room? My insides twist at the sight of her—an internal tug-of-war between conflicting emotions. I want to pull her into my room and kiss her until she can’t see straight, touch her until she promises never to leave me again, and at the same time, I want to demand that she go back to her room because having her close makes me hope for things I can’t have.
I remove the chain and tug her inside by the arm before closing the door behind her.
“No one saw me,” she says, her eyes locked on the floor. “I made sure.”
I saw you,” I growl. It’s painful to be this closeto breathe her air, to smell her perfume. I never knew how much it could hurt to want and be denied.
She swallows and avoids my eyes. “Is she here?”
“What do you want, Liz?”
She lifts her head and stares at me. “Is she here?”
“Sabrina’s on her way to meet her mom in South Dakota for a campaign stop.”
Her gaze dips to my bare chest and back up. “I’m surprised they didn’t ask you to go with them.”
“They did. I declined.” I sound like a fucking dickhead, and I make myself take two steps back so I don’t do something equally dickish. Like kiss her until she melts in my arms and forgets about the other guy, until we both forget that this is hopeless.
“I’m sorry that video was leaked. You didn’t deserve that invasion of your privacy.”
She has red lipstick on, and it matches her shoes. Ever since I saw her tonight, I’ve been picturing her on her knees in nothing but those shoes, those red lips stretched around my cock. I can’t help myself, and I skim my thumb over her bottom lip.
The second I touch her, she draws in a ragged breath. “You came to my apartment yesterday.”
“I did.”
“Why?”
I trail my thumb down her neck and over the red strap of her dress. “Probably for the same reason you came here tonight.”
“To talk about Sabrina?”
“You knocked on my door in the middle of the night to talk about Sabrina?” I follow the strap down and graze my fingers across her cleavage. “Is this about her, or is it about you and me?”
“There is no you and me,” she says. “We both know that.”
“There’s so much you and me, there’s no air left when we share a room. There’s always you and me.”
“Even when you’re making sex tapes with someone else?”
“And even when you’re keeping warm in another man’s arms.”

Something Real was the second and final book in Reckless and Real Series, you do need to read the first book Something Reckless first as this is not a stand alone. I would give this book a 4 star and would recommend any book that Lexi Ryan has written because the woman has serious talent and she will always leave you wanting more from her characters and she does deliver quite well! This book was full of twists and turns, heartbreak, love and secrets it will keep you flipping pages to find out how it will all end. I know the first book all left us gasping because a big secret came out and left us wondering WTH was gonna happen next .... no I won't tell you what it was but for you that have read it I don't have to tell (wink wink).. but this book will tie up all the loose ends that you so desperately wanted and give you much more to stir on. If you thought Sam and Liz's story was steamy in Something Reckless you better bring your wipers because this book has an extra kink and tons of steam!

Liz and Sam have always had a complicated relationship, but at the end of the first book what comes out will wreck more lives than just theirs, but can they make it into something real?

Liz has to find a way to carry on with her life without Sam, he has completely abandoned her after that awful night on Christmas. She will find herself immersing herself into her work on a new campaign but when Sam makes a way of crashing back into her life will she be able to take another rejection from him.. can she be strong enough to give him up once and for all? With the help of her friends and family Liz starts to find her way when but this time there is a new barrier in the way.. well new but still his family... Will Sam always let his family control his life or will he for once stand up for what he believes in and get the answers he has been searching for all along...

There is going to be evils that will keep these 2 separated but in the end will they be able to fight the demons or go down in flames?

Go get this series and stay tuned for more because this may be the end for Sam and Liz's story but the journey will continue because Playing with Fire Nix and Max's story in the Mended Hearts series is coming this summer! Who doesn't want more of yummy Max who was so heartbroken by Liz's twin sister Hannah from the Here and Now series. And I am so happy Nix finally gets to tell her story because I have be wondering about her background for quite sometime! Thanks for every book in the Love Unbound phenomenon Lexi Ryan can't wait for more!

Something Real by Lexi Ryan is the second book in the Reckless & Real Series picking up right where Something Reckless left the reader hanging with a cliffy that the reader never saw coming and wondering if Liz and Sam would be able to have a relationship after such a tremendous bomb was dropped. I waited with anticipation for this next book and as usual Lexi Ryan did not disappoint; Liz and Sam's story had its ups and downs, times where I wanted to reach through the pages and grab one or both of them yelling and even a few times where I got slightly teary eyed. Lexi Ryan gives her readers a little bit of every emotion when reading her amazing stories and this one was no different. This was a 4 star read for me and I highly recommend this series to everyone!

The story picks up with Liz living in a city other than New Hope working for the presidential campaign, away from her family and most of all away from Sam. Going through the motions of living, Liz goes to work and goes home, heartbroken over everything that happened, wishing that things could be different but believing that Sam would never be able to forgive her for what had happened. Without a word from Sam since she walked out of his father's campaign headquarters several months ago; Liz yearns for him to show that he truly did love her despite everything but never hearing the words that she needs. That is until her hottie neighbor informs her that a man showed up at her apartment door when she wasn't home. Knowing that it was Sam has her mind going in a million different directions as to why he is showing up now after all this time.

Sam is content to drinking away the sorrow of losing Liz, the one true love of his life because how could he be with her after everything that happened. Even though he loves her and it is killing him not to be with her, he once again chooses the politics of being a member of his family over what his heart truly wants. And once again Sam is confronted by politics when he is asked to fake a relationship with Sabrina, the daughter of the presidential hopeful after a sex tape is leaked to the press showing her in a very compromising position. Trying to do the right thing, Sam goes to Liz in order to explain that everything is for the public, but once again he is too late and the words get caught in his throat and his heart.

What ensues is are many interactions that turn into crazy sexual trysts that leave them both wanting for more, but also leaving Liz to feel like the other woman, something that she doesn't want to have in her life, not again anyway. No matter how many times Sam tells her that not everything is as it seems, Liz seems to lean toward believing what her eyes and ears are subjected to; until it all becomes too much and she needs Sam to leave her alone for good this time.

Will Sam and Liz be able to work everything out and find the happily ever after that she wants to have only with him? The life that she envies from her sisters? Or are they destined to be apart? You will have to read to find out! I personally turned each page devouring this story not wanting it to end, finishing it in one sitting because I had to know what happened. I CANNOT wait to read Nix and Max's book next!

He talks dirty to me, but I don’t know his name.
He wants to tie me up, but I don’t know his face.
He turns me on, but I couldn’t point him out in a crowd.
I’ve fallen for an anonymous stranger, and tonight the anonymity ends. Tonight I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed.
Because I suspect this anonymous stranger isn’t a stranger at all.

Lizzy Thompson met riverrat69 online through Something Real, a service promising to deliver meaningful relationships by forbidding its users to share names or photos until they’ve reached a certain benchmark. She was looking for love. He was researching an investment. They hit it off. Talked and flirted, hid behind screen names and cartoon avatars.
Now they’re breaking the rules and meeting in person. But Liz is prepared. She’s picked up hints and followed clues.
She’s ninety-percent convinced she’s discovered the identity of her dirty-talking online friend.
She wonders if her ex-lover Sam Bradshaw knows her identity too.
When she rolls the dice on one reckless night, her chance at something real could crumble.

Once a college English professor, I now write full time. I live in rural Indiana, where, when I’m not writing, I get to hang out with my husband and two kids--a six-year-old boy and a two-year-old hellion, er, girl. Not surprisingly, reading and writing remain my favorite activities, though both come in bits and pieces these days, not the big hunks of time I en- joyed before I had children. When I’m feeling virtuous, I like to go running (I use that word liberally. I’m really, really slow) or do yoga. Don’t worry, I’m always careful to balance out such activities with a hearty serving of ice cream or a chocolate martini.
