Trace Weston lives in the beautiful Palm Beaches. A college student who would rather party his life away than accept his father's company. He loses a bet at a college party and has to have a "vanilla" relationship with a girl he has never met.

Vanessa Summers, moved to Florida to attend college for her love of the arts. She also left behind a dark past that haunts her every day. She meets Trace and is instantly taken with his irresistible charm. Will she be able to keep her secrets hidden? Will Trace be able to help her find the answers to what she is searching for? Will they be able to find who and what is trying to keep them apart?

This book held my interest! It took me on a journey filled with passion,

excitement and a touch of intrigue. Ella Emerson has her own writing

style that incorporates feeling into her words as well as a touch of

humor. She has you investing in her characters as you read along and

get deeper into the story.

Vanessa is a college student that wants to forget the past and move on.

She enjoys school, her friendship with Maxine and her new budding

relationship with Trace. Could it be too good to be true, the infamous

player is showing interest in her repeatedly? He seems genuine and

caring. Is it an act or is this all new to him? But what about that Vanilla

Bet?

“His voice is low and his stare is mesmerizing. I can’t tear my eyes away

from him. Remain strong and don’t succumb to his spellbinding effect

he has on girls which leads to no phone call in the morning.” -Vanessa

Trace has been groomed with privilege and usually gets what he wants.

He’s not the commitment type. He also doesn’t want to back down to

this challenge. What he isn’t expecting is to feel what he’s feeling and it

is all new to him. I found myself really enjoying Trace’s compassionate

and caring ways towards Vanessa throughout the book.

“I don’t know a thing about poetry but to hear her thoughts makes my

heart thump loud in my chest. No one can ask for a better moment,…” -

Trace

Along the way, we find that someone or a few aren’t happy with this

union and tries to complicate and threaten Vanessa. Vanessa appears

to be resilient during this time. Maybe she doesn’t want to worry her

parents or assumes things won’t get out of hand. This component to

the book had me truly curious and eager.

I think this series shows a lot of promise. I will follow Ella Emerson’s

books and see where The Palm Beach Princess series takes me. I

definitely think with closer attention to editing and details she has

potential to produce higher quality work. She possess a beautiful craft

just needs some fine tuning!

I give The Vanilla Bet 3.75 Sweet Stars. It was sweet, thoughtful and

intriguing!

This was cute quick read that really took a turn that I did not expect, at all.
We start with Trace Weston, born of privileges, cocksure of himself, able to get any girl he wants. While at a party he enters into a game of poker. So sure of his "winning" hand, the bet goes further than just the chips on the table. His friend raises the wage of Trace having to have a "vanilla" relationship with Vanessa. Vanilla meaning, no one night stand, a typical, real relationship. Believing he will win, he accepts the challenge. As you can imagine, Trace loses.
Trace then seeks Vanessa out so he can fulfill the bet, only it starts to become more for him. This part I loved. They had great chemistry together. But there is something about Vanessa's past he doesn't know about.
This part in the story is where it took that swerve. I liked it but I felt like some of the backstory got put on the back burner.
Someone is out to get Vanessa. Not just meaningless threats, but out of the picture. I loved watching Trace taking care of Vanessa and them working together to piece together who is out for them. While they are trying to figure who it is, Vanessa finds out that she is a result of a bet. Feeling like everything Trace said or did was a lie, she leaves him.
Will Trace get to explain he really does have feelings for her? Will they find out who is after Vanessa? Will they get a HEA in the end?
It'll keep you guessing until the end.

Ella Emerson lives in Florida with her husband and three wonderful children. When she isn't writing you can find her watching movies or playing games with her children. She loves to read, write and eat pizza. A true lover of the beach, she enjoys the sun, surf, sand and sea. She also is a huge fan of the cinema and enjoys crazy 80's chick flicks. She was raised a military brat, and has seen her fair share of the world. She loves using her own experiences and turning them into lovely romantic tales.
In high school she discovered her love for reading, and even had one of her poems published in a national magazine. She continues to read, write, review and hopefully she can become an inspiration to her own children, as well as others.
