Review Only: Stupid Boy by Cindy Miles

Brax Jenkins and Olivia Beaumont are the most envied couple at Winston University—but the so-called “virginity dare,” orchestrated by Brax’s old fraternity, almost tore them apart. Now, a new dare is taking shape, and it’s sure to set emotions ablaze--more than ever before.

Winston’s “It Girl” Harper Belle isn’t just president of the Deltas--she’s also a master at keeping her ugly past a secret. So, when the Kappas’ dare hits closer to home for her more than anyone realizes, she devises a competition of her own as payback. Three sorority sisters will seek out a notorious womanizer on campus and--unbeknownst their “mark”--secretly train him to be the perfect boyfriend. Always up for a challenge, Harper targets the biggest player she can find: Brax’s wickedly handsome foster brother Kane McCarthy.

But, Harper discovers there’s much more to Kane than girls, games, and partying. His easy smile belies the quiet, old soul reflected in his deep brown eyes. All it takes is one night, one secret laid bare, and one kiss from Kane to shift Harper’s world on its axis. Suddenly, the girl who’s always walked a straight and narrow path can’t think of anything else except losing control.

Stupid Boy was the second book in the Stupid Love series, even though it is apart of a series it can be read as a standalone but I wouldn't suggest it because I really loved the first book Stupid Girl as well and you will get to see more of Olivia and Brax in this book too.  This book is Harper and Kane's book and parts of it will rip at your heart strings and parts will melt your heart... oh and don't worry there are some serious steamy scenes too.  I loved the dynamic of this book and also that it was set in a college scene but it has so much more depth to it then just a typical love story.  I would give this book a 4 stars and recommend to others!

Harper is the head of her sorority and is known as the prim and proper southern belle, but little do people know this is not her true person just someone she was made to be after a tragic past.  She still fights her demons from her past to this day but with the help of a "normal" life she is able to restrain from them taking over her life.  She has come up with an idea to get back at the frat house that set up a prank last year in which her friend Olivia was apart of and by doing this she will make her self more vulnerable than normal.. but she will get way more than she bargained for when she sets her sights on the broody bad boy Kane who is the step brother of Brax.

Kane has led a hard life he grew up in foster care, but when he met Brax in a foster home his life finally seemed like it was turning around.  Kane does things that he shouldn't but he has his reasons, reasons he doesn't share with anyone.  When he decides to go visit his brother Brax he will get more than he bargained for when he is introduced to Harper one of Olivia's friends.  There is an instant click for him and he doesn't know what it is about this girl but he finds himself needing to know more.

While Kane is interested in getting to know Harper for who she is he doesn't realize he is apart of the game Harper is playing with her sorority.. but they both have secrets they are keeping and when they come out can Harper really believe he was just a pawn in her game or will she realize she will loose the first person that has every meant something real to her?  Will Kane give up his bad boy ways to show Harper he can be who she needs him to be or is her secret to much for him to bare?

Go get this book right away you don't want to miss out.. oh wait go get the series because you will want to meet Brax also!  Thanks for a great series and can't wait for the third book Stupid Love! This is first series I have read by this author but I am now a huge fan and will be following her for a long time to come!

Stupid Boy by Cindy Miles is the second book in the Stupid in Love Series, bringing forth many of the themes that were first addressed in Stupid Girl. This book had a little of every element that I tend to lean toward when reading; a bad boy who wants to be good; a good girl who yearns to have fun and loyal friends who help them through it all. This book was a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend this series to others.

Harper Belle is the epitome of perfect, or so it would seem to those looking from the outside. She is the president of the Delta's; always perfectly dressed in classy clothes way beyond her years; studies hard, rarely parties but there is a happiness is her eyes that is missing. Still upset over the Kappas virginity bet that her friend Olivia had fallen victim to the year before, Harper comes up with the perfect plan to get them back. Take one of the Kappa members, or a guy who is linked to Kappa in some way and reform their bad boy image. With a unanimous vote, Harper begins to look for the perfect candidate for her bad boy make-over. Harper never expected Kane McCarthy, Brax's foster brother to become more then just a sorority bet.

Kane McCarthy has had a rough life and the reasons that he runs numbers is more then just the money that he makes because he is good at it. Knowing that he could be more but forced to stick to what he knows so that he can do what needs to be done; he is a bad boy to the core, at least on the outside. When he runs into Harper while looking for his brother it seems that quickly all bets are off because this girl has gotten under his skin in a way that no one else has before. Even with repeated warnings from Brax to stay away; Kane cannot seem to help himself when it comes to Harper.

As Harper and Kane start seeing each other secretly, it becomes less for the Delta bet and more for her heart. But Harper still keeps all of the secrets of her past that shaped who she shows the world today close to her chest; struggling everyday with wanting to reveal them to Kane. Kane has secrets that he is keeping from Harper as well; secrets that could change the way she views him. When Kane's secret is revealed, and not by his choice he pushes Harper away and she loses the only time in her life that she has actually been herself, acted her age and had a little fun and the reader wants to reach through the pages to hug her and tell her it will all work out in the end.

Will Kane be able to break Harper out of the carefully constructed shell that she resides in? Will Harper be able to show Kane that what he believes about himself is anything but the truth? Will they both be able to let the past go and be together? You will have to read to find out.
