Blog Tour Word Play by Amalie Silver

Smut sells.
Michael Rourke learned this the hard way.

Struggling to make ends meet as a mystery writer, he sold his soul - and his pride - as he pedaled sex and lust writing under the pen name Christoph Strong.

No one knew he was the one behind the steamy stories on the bestsellers lists. And he planned to keep it that way.

Until he met her.

Monica Singer, an infamous blogger, is keen to discover the truth of his secret identity.

During a chance meeting at a book convention, Michael and Monica form an instant connection. And soon, an innocent online friendship becomes something so much more.

But as Michael starts to let his guard down, he doesn’t realize that the person he's learning to trust may be hiding secrets of her own.

Secrets that could ultimately destroy everything.

When I first read the blurb for Word Play I was intrigued…  A book about an author and a blogger… what!! Are you serious! This could get interesting!  I am so glad I took a chance on this book because in the end, I loved it!  It was witty, funny, sexy, and so well written that I could not wait to see how the story unfolds.  I love books like this because they make you think, could this happen in real life… did this happen in real life…  is it part fiction part reality!  It sure gets my mind spinning!  For a debut novel, Ms. Silver did a phenomenal job and I cannot wait to see what else she may have in store for us! This novel is told in a dual POV and is a complete story, complete with blog postings in between chapters.  These are hilarious and gave me quick the chuckle at times!

Michael Rourke wants to be taken a serious mystery author but with his sales being not being where they need to be to make ends meet, Michael does something out of desperation that will change his life.  He writes smut under a pen name.  He’s embarrassed about Christoph Strong. He hides from everyone that he is using a pen name and would never has sworn everyone who knows to a confidentially agreement.   To his surprise, his book is a hit!  He quickly rises through the charts and quickly becomes something he has always wanted to be, a successful writer.  Unfortunately, he hates that its smut.  He writes to pay the bills.  When a 2nd book is published, the series explodes and everyone wants to know who Christoph Strong is.   With pressure from his agent, he finally agrees to do a book signing at a convention. Unknowing to him, during his flight to the convention, his identity is leaked to the press and the paparazzi are waiting for him when he lands.  He decides for the weekend, he will no longer be Michael Rourke, but Christoph Strong.

“I need to forget my name for a weekend and try to focus on the man they all wanted me to be-when in truth, I couldn’t have been further from their perception of who I was.  I was a hermit, an outcast, and from a view in the cheap seats, ordinary. “

Monica Singer was one of the top bloggers and was highly regarding as being the authority of what book to buy or what book to pass.  She’s so popular she even invited a new word “smeep” that could be found in the dictionary. (Ok at this point I was cracking up because smeep is so a substitute for swoon… then I was thinking to myself, who made up swoon??) She was especially tough on Christoph Strong’s book giving it only 3.75 stars.   When they meet at the convention, there is distaste for each other but also a little sexual tension brewing under the surface.

Little does the other person know both Christoph and Monica have secrets that they are hiding, both have identities they are protecting.  What happens when the lies start unraveling and the true identities are revealed?  A weekend of hot sex uncovers even more that what either bargained for.  Will they be prepared for what happens next?

“Tonight would be greedy and frantic.  It was about getting my fill before it was snatched away in the morning by an honest she was too scared to face.”
