I woke to the sound of waves crashing as my nose caught the salty scent of
the ocean. I rolled over to find red rose petals scattered over the bed, with a
long-stemmed one lying in the middle. Securing the sheet around me, I rested on
my elbows before picking up the single rose. Ethan was on his side with his
eyes on me. I twirled the rose and gave him a soft smile. He was without a
shirt and propped on an elbow. His messy hair was wet with droplets of water
dripping along his neck and the contours of his shoulders, before sliding down
his carved chest. The sunlight pouring in from the window made his body gleam.
He always aroused me instantly, but staring at him now made him seem even more
God-like, and I wanted every part of him.
“Did you take a shower without me? That has to be a first.”
Ethan reached over to tuck my hair behind my ears. His hand trailed down my
side to rest on mine. “I got up at sunrise to catch some waves.”
“I didn’t know you surfed. I’m not surprised, since you like wakeboarding
so much.”
He brought our bodies so close that our chests were nearly touching. My
heart sped up as he leaned over me with his hand clamped on my hip. “I surf,
but you’re wrong about boarding. I don’t like it – I love it. Surfers get
really pissy if boarders ruin their ride so I don’t wakeboard when I’m on the
ocean. I settle for catching waves on a different board, but I don’t love it
nearly as much.”
I caught the passion in his eyes. Ethan loved doing anything on the water.
My mouth twisted into an adoring grin as I stared at my magnificent boyfriend.
“You taught me how to board. I suppose you can teach me how to surf, too?”
Ethan chuckled. “I’d love to. I’m not sure if we’ll have time on this trip.
I’ll line up another one soon. We should go to Hawaii or Australia. If you’re
going to learn, you might as well learn in one of the best surfing spots on the
planet.”
His hand veered from my hip down to my ass where he gently pinched me.
Ethan licked his luscious lips, and I saw a hunger in his eyes. I knew that
look. My breaths started becoming shorter as I responded to his fingers traveling
further down. Ethan hovered over me and pulled at my elbows to lay me on my
back. He took the rose out of my hand and set it on the nightstand before
sliding down the sheet. His lips fell to my collarbone and water dripped from
his hair into my cleavage. The coolness of it sizzled with the fire inside me.
“When is our first meeting today?” I stuttered.
“It’s still early. We can do whatever you want for a while,” Ethan purred.
He continued to leisurely kiss his way down to my breasts while one hand
wandered further down my thigh. My hand drifted between his thighs where I
timidly stroked his straining erection. His lips traveled along my chest until
they reached my breasts. Ethan flicked both nipples to attention before taking
one and sucking frantically. I groaned when he gently bit down before letting

“We can go for a walk on the beach,” Ethan murmured heatedly.

Complicated is the second book in the Secrets And Lies Series. This was definitely my most sought out release of this year. This story will keep you so enthralled that you will be flipping pages quickly it will make your head spin. I would give this book a 5 star! I never and mean never give a cliffhanger book a 5 star but HOLY mother this book blew me away. It has so many things happening and watching this story unfold was seriously amazing. Yes I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting ever so patiently for the next installment of this series to come out! It has action, passion, angst, disaster, devastation...gosh I could keep going, but in all it was amazingly written and I would not only recommend this series to my friends but I would plead with them to read it. You will fall in love with every character this book has in it... and there are so many more that get brought into this story that you will be hoping and praying that some get there own story in the end. I don't say this much about books but this series I could imagine being a movie and it wouldn't just be woman that would watch it, men would flock to it because this book has a lot of action and adventure too. This series started in Conflicted where Ethan and Mia met when she went undercover at his company to help out a slimy no good reporter, and for Mia everything back fires when she doesn't find secrets but finds love. Complicated is exactly as the title suggests, there are more lies and secrets to be unfolded. Mia is trying to get out of the hold of the slimy reporter and trusts in her friends and Ethan to help her get through it. When Mia and Ethan's family/friends all come together to take down the bad guys they get way more than they expected... discovering more truths and lies is hard on everyone and it takes a toll on Mia and Ethan's relationship... will there love for one another help them get through the turmoil even when tragedy strikes? Or will Mia make a decision in the end that will tear Ethan apart?
You do not want to miss this series believe me! The last pages of this book had me having major WTF moments and OMG are you kidding me moments. God almighty M.M. Koenig you blew my socks off with this book... now hurry up and get me the next installment! I have so many questions and my heart hurts for the tragedy that this book entails, but in all I love when an author can bring those emotions out! This review is short but I don't want to reveal to many secrets or lies for that matter :) !!

Complicated by M.M. Koenig is book two in the Secrets and Lies Series. The reader once again becomes entangled in a story of intrigue and mystery and who can forget a bit of a love story mixed in. I couldn't wait to read this next book after finishingConflicted and I was far from disappointed. I was anticipating what would happen as I turned each page and everything that I predicted was far from what happened, leaving me gasping in shock until I turned the very last page. I am waiting on pins and needles for the continuation of Mia and Ethan's story in book three of this amazing series because after the big reveal in the final pages of this four star read, I am desperate for Mia's reaction! Everyone needs to grab the Secrets and Lies Series by M.M. Koenig because you will not be disappointed.
Discovering the truth about Micah, the first love of her life when he returns after almost a year away, Mia is thrown into a whirlwind of activity, wondering what is really driving Harrison's obssession with Ethan's business and at what lengths he will actually go to obtain the information that he desperately wants Mia to uncover while working there. Not ready to hear what Micah has to say about his departure from her life, a departure that crushed her and ruined her academic career she sends him away when he desperately wants to talk to her about his reasons and what is really going on. When she finally decides that it is perhaps time to hear Micah out, it may be too late as he is missing causing his mother, Trey and Mia to worry about his whereabouts and how involved he is in this crazy mess that has now become her life.

He takes her friends on a getaway with him and his friends, a time that was filled with sun, drinks, fun and laughter; something that she desperately needs to get out of her head and stop worrying about the chaos that she has become entangled in when accepting Harrison's offer of going undercover. Always trying to think of a way to get out from under Harrison's thumb, she worries for Ethan's safety with the truths that are beginning to be uncovered in his company. He assures her that he knows what he is doing and that everyone involved will get what they deserve, but Mia has a hard time believing that there is a silver lining in all of this.
In the closing chapters of book two, the reader is thrown into an action packed sequence of events that rivals a blockbuster action movie, and keeps your eyes on the page turning each one with an incessant need to know what happens next. With a plan that seems unreal when first discussed, Mia and her boys and Ethan and his family of close friends work to nail everyone to the wall. Everything does not going according to plan and lives are lost in the process. The book ends with a revelation so profound, I never saw it coming and I gasped out loud while reading.
Not wanting to give away the best parts of this utterly amazing story, I will keep my review as vague as possible only saying that you MUST READ this series and I promise that you will not be disappointed. M.M. Koenig outdid herself on this one and I cannot wait to see what the next book reveals!
