Author: Christine Manzari
Age: NA
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release date: February 3, 2015

If you ask the confident and snarky skater girl, and she’s in the mood to share, she’ll tell you her name is Cat. She might even tell you that she’s hooked on graffiti, 80s movies, and having fun—the riskier the better. Cat will share a good time with you, but she won’t ever trust you enough to share her heart. It’s protected by secrets and she’d like to keep it that way.

Cat knows one thing for certain: Love isn’t really her thing.

If you ask the confident and rich pretty boy, he might tell you his name is Huck. He might even tell you he loves a challenge and is used to getting his way. He won’t tell you that his life is a mess because he risked his heart by trusting the wrong girl. Huck is ready for a change, he just wasn’t ready to get hooked on someone like Cat.

Huck knows one thing for certain: Love hasn’t done him any favors, but Cat just might be worth the risk.

Cat and Huck think a one-night stand seems harmless, but when all the little secrets they didn’t share turn out to be toxic truths, they realize how easily a one-night stand (or a few) could ruin everything.

The thing is, you can be ruined in more than one way. Once you’re HOOKED, what wouldn’t you risk for the chance at more?

Hooked by Christine Manzari is a story about the different personas that people have depending on the people that they are interacting with and how each persona can be perceived by the same person.  A story of love found in the most unlikely of place with the most unlikely of people that can change everything that you had planned for yourself.  This book was a 3.5 star read for me and I would recommend it to others!

Cat is a quirky, loud mouth, opinionated, feisty skater girl who cares about those who are close to her fiercely and has a passion for art in any form.  She spends every night on the Venice Beach playground with her best friend Jay.  She is passionate about her job as a graphic designer because art in any form calls to her.  The only thing about her amazing job that she hates is one college that she occasionally has to work with, the one that almost seems to zap the creativity from her soul.  One night on Venice Beach on a dare from Jay, Cat approaches the handsome stranger that hasn't stopped watching her for the last week while taking pictures with his camera, and nothing that follows is anything that she could have expected.

Cat is thrown for a loop when her mother, her exact opposite in ever possible way, tells her that she has inoperable, incurable cancer.  Wanting to be with her mother while she tries an experimental treatment to prolong the time she has left, Cat makes arrangements at work to take off every Wednesday so that she can take her mother to chemo.  While making the arrangement at work she comes face to face with the one night stand that was turning into anything but, who also turns out to be her arc nemesis at work.  Torn between the guy she knew as Huck, who seemed to set her soul on fire and Will who manages some projects that she works on and hates.

Huck walked away from a scandal on the east coast office to start over in California as the art director for his families company.  Meeting Cat wasn't something that he was looking for or expected; especially on the heels of ending a relationship where he had planned to marry.  Cat stirs feelings in him that he didn't even have for his former fiance.  But when he sees her in his office and realizes that with their titles in the company, the handbook highly discourages a relationship between them.  Hopeful that they can find a way to be together, Huck wants to do whatever it takes to be with Cat; where Cat is completely skeptical because she doesn't want to give the impression that she slept her way to her position.

Things for Cat become more then she can handle as her mother becomes sicker and she turns into herself to internalize her feelings.  Needing the one person that she swore she would stay away from, Cat struggles to work it out on her own; while Huck becomes close to Jay in the hopes of having some type of relationship, no matter how far removed, with Cat.

Will Cat and Huck finally be together?  Will they be able to figure out how to be together despite every obstacle that stands in their way, especially their jobs?  You will have to read to find out!

Hooked was a great story and I would recommend this book to many others.  This book is told in dual POV's and has an HEA.  I have to say when I decide to read a book by an author that I don't know very well I get excited, Christine Manzari knows how to write her steamy scenes and has a great sense of humor.. she has a way of making you feel like you are apart of the world of her characters.  I really enjoyed reading this book about Huck and Kat.  Kat is a very strong heroine in this book and doesn't take shit from no one.. Huck is the rich kid who gets what he wants.  When there worlds collide it will steam up your kindle and steal your heart.  I would rate this book a 4.5 stars!

Kat is a skater girl who loves art and the most important thing to her is her mom, Jay and her job. She wants to make something of herself and her job can take her there.. but she has an asshole boss who she constantly is at war with, but she has never actually met him, he just barks orders to her through email or by phone.  Oh and she doesn't do the love thing, one night stands is all she will allow.. When she meets a stranger on venice beach where she hangs out she finds herself instantly attracted to him and finds his name Huck to be even more interesting.. but with a few bold questions as a meet and greet she will walk away... but that won't be the end for them.

Huck is a rich boy and he has just moved to California to run his company locally, he used to do this from far away and life has a way of making changes he wasn't sure he was ready for.  But when he sees a girl on the beach who by his standards isn't what he would normally go for.. he finds himself instantly wanting to get to know her better, there first meeting is not the most conventional way of getting to know each other but it leaves Huck salivating for more.

When they find themselves giving into to there passion, a twist will ruin everything.. secrets will ruin everything.. life itself and sadness will wedge its way into there world.. but can they overcome the road blocks??.. Will the passion they created have them hooked or will it sink?

You have to pick up this book, you will love the characters.. you will get emotional are you panties will be soiled with want!  Loved this book and can't wait to see what else this author can give us. Thanks for a great story and look forward to so much more in the future.  I have become a huge fan!

The first thing Christine does when she's getting ready to read a book is to crack the spine in at least five places. She wholeheartedly believes there is no place as comfy as the pages of a well-worn book. She's addicted to buying books, reading books, and writing books. Books, books, books. She also has a weakness for adventure, inappropriate humor, and coke (the caffeine-laden bubbly kind). Christine is from Forest Hill, Maryland where she lives with her husband, three kids, and her library of ugly spine books.
